We have stayed at Gary's during the weekend break in November 2019. The weather was perfect, we did biking, rafting and mountain viewing with Gary and I must say he is the best tour guides I have ever met. He enjoys a lot what he is doing, always smiling and kind. The trip was a pleasure!

Gary es un excelente profesional, un guía muy recomendable. Nos llevó a los arrozales de Longji, nos reformó la excursión a pedido, caminó con nosotros, nos sacó fotos, nos llevó a comer a un lugar increible. Todo de primer nivel. Gary is a great tour guide. We booked the tour to the rice fields at 11 pm and the day after he was at our hotel. We changed the tour and he had no problem. Took pictures, walked with us, took us to a great place for lunch. The best guide! Highly recommended.

We stayed with Sophia and Gary about two years ago and still remember it as a great experience - they were so lovely - showed us around and let us feel at home with them. Even got us a gift when we left 🙂. Sophia has very good english, and knows quite a lot. Really gave us an inside look of life in china. Gary knows all sort of "secret" spots around Guilin and gave us also a very nice tour. The place itself was not anything fancy but very cosy, and with the best view of the mountains. A bit away from the city, and without the hustle bustle of the touristic city of Guilin. Highly recommended.

We booked a three day tour staying at their hotel in yangshou and because we arrived late at night to Guilin, we decided to stay the night there. Then the next morning Gary should have picked us up at 8 am, at 9:30 he was not there so we called him and he told as that he FORGOT about us, he asked us to wait for two and a half hours so he could arrive but after 3 and a half hours he still did not show up and we decided to cancel. Very unprofessional, specially taking into account that winwin tour was four times more expensive than the one we were finally offered at our Guilin hotel.

We spent 3 days with Gary and his lovely family in Yuangshuo. He picked us up in Guilin directly from our hotel and we went straight to the rice terraces. It's a shame the weather was extremely misty but we managed to see a very little bit of them. Gary was very nice, smiley, we chatted a lot about many different things along the way, including bamboos (my passion) and Chinese culture/history. He made it a very nice day. We then drove off to his charming BandB outside Yanshuo. The garden has a wonderful view on Chinese mountains, Gary's family is adorable and they made us feel very welcome. The effort put into breakfast, the freshly cut fruits, the warm Chinese tea really prepared us for another good day! The second day we cycled around the River Li area. Many great spots for pictures. Beautiful area with better weather. We had lunch over there and later went to Yangshuo village for dinner. Again, we had a lovely time as Yangshuo is more traditional than the rest of the cities we had visited in our trip. The last day we saw the kumquat plantations and as usual, Gary took us to breathtaking viewpoints on the way to Guilin train station. The tailor-made trip was perfect, even with the thick mist. Very active 3 days, yet a very relaxing place. Gary and his wife speak English perfectly and are extremely friendly and helpful. Be prepared for a lot of walking and biking but it;s well worth it. The prices are OK for us working in Switzerland, but Gary's friendliness is priceless!
