Guangdong’s most beautiful, calm, dark-green water, and peaceful lake. This is a conservation area and very scenic. The lake is surrounded by magnificent and abundant colourful flora, fauna, mountains, and the sound of birds from the forest areas. We very much enjoyed our boat ride on the peaceful waters and through the refreshing air.

The water is trielt pure and has a nice blue color. For people never been in Jiuzhaigou or similar spots surely an amazing thing.

The boat trip to the butterfly farm... ok it’s 35RMB per person but it’s literally just 150m trip - that’s it!
Then you can go in a small butterfly house to see a few of them and either take the boat back or (and I recommend that) walk your way back. It’s a nice short hike but might be a bit slowed down by old or slowly tourists. Don’t try to go from the other side. It’s a one-way path and even it’s working for you I’m the beginning (yes I tried it), the will stop you at some point because the last 20% is really narrow and you cannot Pass the people.

About 18 kilometers from downtown Zhaoqing, is is a 4A-class tourist attraction, ticket price is RMB 76, namely around USD 11. Chinese name is 肇庆鼎湖山.

Choose the Bus No.3 is a good choice. Get off at the stop of Ding Hu Keng Kou (鼎湖坑口), and you arrive at the spot, only RMB 2.

If by a taxi, will cost about USD 8 from downtown.

Get to there early in the morning, enjoy the first fresh air and dew there, excellent.

This lake is amazing and the water looks so clear and clean. My only concern was seeing locals washing their hands with soap in it and chemicals near the water. I hope they don't contaminate the water. I felt like just jumping in!!

The trip across the lake is worth it, quite serene, quiet and a lovely view. The butterfly house on the other shore needs some care but still worth seeing. If you fancy a walk, try going up the mountain towards the back of the butterfly farm, it is worth it. This walk takes you up along the stream, up the mountain (the lady with high heels would have regretted it half way up) and along the side of the mountain. The views along the way are good. The trip brings you at the park and ready for your descent down, either walking or by bus.

Went on a bright sunny day, my travelling companion visited the island by the traditional hand rowed boat to the island- very calming tree lined facility - in summer the butterfly facility would be an added attraction.

The lake forms part of the Dinghu Mountain Resort - also see that review
