I saw the pagoda (or tower) from Guangji Bridge and decided to walk for 20 minutes to reach the place. However, it was closed for renovation (I supposed) and could not go near it. It may not be easy to reach the tower as you have to walk a distance and walk across a dam to get to it. After you reach the tower, you will realise that they isn't any description about the tower.

The Phoenix tower or pagoda was first constructed in the thirteenth year of the Ming Dynasty (1585) and then rebuilt in the thirtieth year of Qing Emperor Qianlong (1765).
There is no admission fee now because no climbing of the tower is allowed.

I've been up this tower a couple of times and it's interesting for a short while, you get a good view of the city across the river, but not much more. The price is right, it's only about 4 yuan per ticket and it's a good way to kill an hour or two in Chaozhou.
