Interesting to seek out the Indian influences here. Peaceful grounds with 2 pagodas. Older people doing tai chi, playing games,...the streets surrounding the temple are worth a look as well.

This is one of the twin Pagodas in the grounds of the Kaiyuan temple. Said to be the Tallest Pagodas in China. One is on the East side of the grounds - the other on the West side.

If I'm not mistaken, this is one of the towers within the Kaiyuan Temple complex. It is quite old and one reason why buildings around this district are not allowed to be built high. This is a landmark in the skyline of the old city....More

An old tower in town but interesting to look at and has some nice ornamentation. Not sure if it is closed all the time or just when I was there but it is quite old so it may be all the time.

the interesting historic figures on outside of each level of the tower are quite amazing. The faces and guestures are not pocker faces at all. Unfortunately couldn't go inside because those are too old.
