We did one day tour to Piedras Rojas, Lagunas Minisque and Miacanti and Laguna Chaxa with the best guide Osi. Best tour seller Arsen explained everything to us before buying the trip - he explained differences between tours, pron and cons and offered discount :) V.A. also offer volcano hiking tours and uyuni saltar tour (but this just as re-seller like everybody in san pedro since chilean companies cannot operate in Bolivia)

I visited Volcano Aventura with my girlfriend on October 2019 in order to book tours in the San Pedro de Atacama region. After talking with more than 10 agencies, with thought Volcano's proposal was the best offer that we had, as according to their sales agent, they were "highly ranked in TripAdvisor; had certified guides; worked with restaurants (instead of providing food during the trips, as other agencies; and worked with exclusive cars (4 Runner and the likes) with small groups of people." We paid them almost USD 700 for 5 tours each, and then the NIGHTMARE began. Tour 1 - the agency subcontracted another agency to take us to the Lagunas Escondidas (Baltinache). The guide, a Brazilian, was horrible and very unprofessional....he did not know much about the region we were visiting. After completing the lagunas circuit, we were going to have lunch at a viewpoint, but ended up getting stuck in the sand our vehicle). Grabted this is something that can happen in the desert, I do not blame the tour operators for this, however, both the driver and the tour guide handled the situation very poorly, affecting the length of the tour and mot even apologizing for the issues. Tour 2: lagunas altiplanicas. Everything started put incorrectly because Volcano failed to provide our correct address and contact information to the tour operator that was going to take us (Andes Travel took us, as again, Volcano subcontracted the tour). This caused us to be late for the tour, in the processing making everyone else that went with us late, all because of Volcano’s poor service. Andes travel’s service, however, was great, and their tour guide, Alex, was very good. Tour 3: geysers del tatio. We were never picked up by the tour operator (don’t even know if this was or not operated by Volcano or also subcontracted). It turns out that even though we explained to them what had happened the day before with our telephone and address, they again failed to provide the correct information to the guide and driver that were supposed to pick us up. This was the last strike for us, but the nightmare was not over. After this we decided to go to Volcano to tell them everything that had happened and request a refund of our money, as the service so far had been terrible. This resulted in an entire day of discussions with different persons (girlfriend of owner, owner, sales agent, only to have a defensive owner give us a bunch of excuses before telling us that he could refund the money, but it would not be immediate, as we had paid by card. Thankfully, after 2 business days, we did get our refund, but in the process lost practically an entire day discussing all the issues and requesting our refund. I do not recommend Volcano at all to anyone visiting San Pedro de Atacama. After working with other companies (Flamingo, Andes Travel, etc.), we noticed that they are merely subcontracting companies and provide a terrible customer and logistics service.

The first tour was to the Rainbow Valley. Our guide Matias was excellent. He gave us a lot of information about the scenery. The tour isn't chosen much, but totally worth going. Beautiful views! Our second trip was the Piedras Rojas tour. Our guide Osvaldo knew a lot about the nature. Volcanos, lakes, lagoons and flamingos. The best tour we did. We also visited the El Tatio Geyser with Azul. Impressive views. Azul knew a lot, but she explained only a bit to the whole group. When you asked her something, she explained it enthousticly. The last tour was Salar de Tara. Our guide was again Osvaldo. Again great views. We liked the Monjes de la Pacana the most. This tour was the least special of all the tours we took. In the end, great experience with Volcano Aventura. Although it is more expensive than other tours in town it was definitely worth the money.
