Tried to book lodge and horseback riding. After several days of inquiring about the lodge, was told that horseback riding was booked weeks in advance. Despite ever changing government covid restrictions, business should be honest with clients and be upfront of why tours are cancelled instead of stringing customers along

I texted with Juan about a tour. He offered me two and I chose one of them the next morning. Unfortunately he stopped replying to me right afterwards. In the morning I got ready to go and called him to make sure the tour would take place. He wouldn’t reply to my WhatsApp calls or messages even though I could see he was online. Then I called with my Chilean number - not really a suprise - he picked up. He told me it was only with reservation and hang up on me. I tried to book for another day but he wouldn’t reply to my calls or answer my messages. The agency was also closed. I’m super sad, was really looking forward to the tour but this is definitely not a way to treat a costumer.

Absolutly recomedable. I did a 2-3 hour horse riding tour to some ruines near San Pedro de Atacama.
When booking the tour they reminded us of suitable clothes, sunsreen, sunnglases and water. They picked us up at San Pedro center and drove us ~ 5 minutes to the ranch.
They are very responsable with riders and horses! The horses are in good shape, hooves are trimmed and those I saw without saddle had good back muscles. Horse equipment were also well maintained. We got asked about our riding experienced and the horses were choosen accordingly, they provided helmets and chaps, we got a short explanation how to handle the reins. Well, riding cannot be explained in 10 minutes but to give people a short introduction it was good enough. We were a group of 4 riders and were accompanied by 2 guides. A local spanish speaking guy and another english speaking employee. They were both very nice. We were walking and troting mostly because of the terrain and group constellation (beginners and advanced riders together). On the way back advanced riders got asked if they wanted to gallop a bit, so beginners stayed behind and one guide stayed with each group. All horses were manageable.

All in all I was positively surprised, having experienced other riding tours in San Pedro de Atacama and I felt very comfortable and safe on my horse.
It was a pitty I couldn't book another tour. It was already full.

After horse riding in multiple countries this was the unsafest ride ride for beginners we have experienced. My Husband and son are beginners but I'm experienced rider with more than 35 years riding experience (Including racing on thoroughbreds and trot racing) as well as a qualified vet. My husband and son where as mentioned are not experienced riders and the horse my husband was given (Gaucho) which was not a horse I would recommend a beginner. The horse lost its footing on the narrow track up the mountain and was luck not to fall down the mountain and then later on without commanding the horse to go faster the horse suddenly started to fast trot.

The only way Juan can control his horses is by using bits not normally used for normal horse rides and prohibited spurs in the horse world (most spikes I had ever seen). Both Juan and support guides horses were not in complete control all of the time. The support guide and Juan were also very rude when I requested a better horse to ride. As the horse they had chosen me as I would like to experience a good ride and the horse had breathing difficulties when standing.

The ride we did as mentioned at one point the trail uses a very narrow and close to the edge of mountain track which if not experienced in our opinion would not be suitable for a beginners and kids. The return going down is via a sand dune which luckily my son and husband had the option to walk down rather than ride. This was a good choice as Juan when trying to take my sons horse down had difficulty with the horse refusing to go down the dune at first.

More issues were encountered during the ride.

We did an 8hr day ride and had the most amazing time. The horses are beautiful and so well looked after. They are sturdy and safe for beginners and nippy for more knowledgeable riders. It's all western tack but beautifully maintained so comfortable for 8hrs in the saddle. Juan, the owner, is meticulous about his horses and safety so the whole experience can just be enjoyed without any concerns. He also advertises for yard help volunteers for a min a month. I have 25yrs horse experience and would definitely go back and definitely recommend.

Great experience! We got on the horses right in front of the place in which we booked the tour and rode for 3 hours in total, out past some ruins and to a beautiful canyon before returning. I originally almost signed up for an 8-hour ride with a different company but am SO GLAD that I didn't -- trust me, 3 hours is plenty of time for the sake of your legs. The owner and guide were very helpful in answering questions and advising about what to wear/bring ahead of time. Horses were assigned based on past experience, though the horses were a little hard to manage at times, which is only natural. I would recommend not going on a tour of more than 4 people if there is only one guide (and ours only spoke Spanish). Beginners could definitely participate!

We had a private full day trip through Moon and Mars valley with a very good French guide (she also spoke excellent English). She was very knowledge, worked with our riding levels well and was generally very nice. The tour itself was great, we couldn't believe people trying to bike this, being forced to stay on the roads. The trip was so serene and other worldly due to the lack of people, we highly recommend it. We rode horses in three other locations in Chile and this was far above our best experience. Between the horses, the guide and the location we couldn't have hoped for more. The horses were well trained and very well cared for, the they were the best we saw on our entire trip as well. If you're a classically trained rider you'll be extra surprised by these great horses.

My friend and I booked 2h horse ride and they took us to Salt mountain. It was beautiful and they seemed professional before an issue occurred.

The horse I picked kept putting head down every 5 sec to eat something and constantly changing its pace. It was walking slow then next thing you know it was running. It was not my first time riding a horse and I knew it was unsafe/not normal. I expressed my concern. Juan and a girl who was leading the tour were speaking in spanish and seemed bothered.

They started blaming on my horse riding skills and didnt provide any other alternatives to make my experience better. I couldn't enjoy the view or the experience because of not only the horse but also their attitude. I ended up walking back to the ranch and my friend continued the tour.

Juan led me to the ranch. He didnt even look back and zoomed straight to the ranch and I had to walk on sandy mountain following trace of what I passed through.

I want to ask my money back if I can. The experience was very bad and Juan and his employees were so rude. If you are not *very* experienced rider, you might be better off to go with other company which may have better horse for those who don't ride a horse on a daily basis. Otherwise they will blame everything on your horse riding skill.

On a side note, my friend who continued the tour told me that they never made a stop so you may want to request it in advance or forget about taking picture of breath talking view.

One of the best horse riding places we have taken a trip with. The horses were fantastic and didn’t have bad habits , the guides were so helpful and lovely- Mathilde was great.

And the landscape. Wow.

Some of the trail was challenging but we always felt safe. For 5 people, we had 3 guides, all highly experienced riders who gave plenty of tips and kept us confident. My teenage daughter loved it. Highlight was the trail back down giant sand dunes.

You must do this in San Pedro. We took a 5 hour ride which was a perfect length of time. I would love to go back and do an overnight trip.

My friend and I booked a 9am 3hr ride which was lovely. We were the only two who had booked, so we enjoyed a lovely private ride with our guide who spoke fantastic English and was very helpful. The horses were gorgeous, very well behaved and gentle. Price is also very reasonable at 10,000 per hour for the shorter rides. Needed to pay an extra 3,000 for entry to death Valley which we were aware of beforehand.
