We went to Laguna Cejar with Flamingo tours. We were very impressed with the tour company and really enjoyed our guide Kevin and driver David. After Cejar we went to Laguna Tabinquinche which was beautiful and Kevin was very knowledgable about the area.
We were very disappointed in the Cejar lagoon experience. You can't actually swim in Cejar anymore, but can swim in Laguna Piedra. The swim in this lagoon and surrounding atmosphere is significantly less enjoyable and landscape bleak compared with Lagunas Escondidas. For the entry price of 17,000pesos per person it's absolutely rediculous when you can swim in two lagoons in the much more beautiful Lagunas Escondidas for $5,000pesos per person.
Despite this experience I want to emphasise how much we enjoyed the tour company.

The entrance fee to Laguna Cejar is disproportionately expensive. There are 2 lakes, one for viewing only(can’t swim) and one for swimming. Stepping into one of those lakes was a fun experience. The scenery around is stunning. For the price one pays, it is not worth it.

I’d like to personally address this critic to the venue staff chief NOE. I was in a group from Exploras to get in the lagoon yesterday at 5pm and stay until 5:30. Reaching there at 5:15, the chief of staff called NOE wouldn’t allow the group entrance. Despite all the staff good will, the chief decided he had the power to forbid the entrance, even when the group was ok to leave the lagoon in time, staying for only 15 minutes. I tried to talk to him and was treated with desdein and disrespect. This guy compromised a whole group experience and I feel

We drove our hired car about 30 mins from San Pedro to Laguna Cejar. We went in the morning and it was surprisingly quiet. It cost £10 each before 2pm and £15 after 2pm. There are 3 lakes one of which you can swim in. For bathers there are private changing rooms, showers to wash the salt off and toilets (no place to buy refreshments though). The water is unexpectedly cold given it is in the middle of a desert but it is good fun floating around.

If you have not "floated" before then this is as good a place as any. Well managed by the local "indigenous owners". You are kept to a strict timetable, don't be late and allocated a specific spot around the lake. It is so hot under the sun it is hard to spend very long in the water so for us 30 min was fine.

15 USD per person for one of the smallest Laguna in Atacama, probably just because one can take a bath, is a rip off. Other entrances cost in average 2USD per person. Sceneries are not the greatest. Of course there is no birds. Perhaps good as a salty pool....!!

with so many amazing Lagunas, this little place seems an invention for tourism. I found much nicer the road through the Salar de Atacama to reach Cejar, rather than the Lagunas themselves.

you can float In a clear water salar lagoon with view to beautiful volcanos . I recommend to pay the entrance fees to get unlimited time, and more important, access to the showers after the swim.

Floating in the laguna next to laguna cejar (in which bathing is prohibited) was a really special experience. We enjoyed it very much and recommend without hesitation to visit this place!
The entrance fee was reduced by the beginning of February 2015 to 15.000 Pesos which is still not cheap but worth it. It was twice as much before. The fee includes the entry as well as the use of freshwater showers (it's a relief to wash off the salty crust), restrooms and changing rooms.

It is an amazing place. Worth the trip but never buy anything from Teckara Tourism in Toconao street. The employee does not have any professionalism. Forget the customers who have already paid. Motorists are sexist and unpleasant. Horrible company. If you want to have a good trip in Atacama, Do not buy anything from this agency or Peruvian lady in front of the agency.

Written May 14, 2018
