The view of the mountains is fantastic but the good review stops here. The place needs a real improvement urgently! The toilets are disgusting… the road to get there is not good either. The pools are dirty and I didn’t feel safe to get in… The premisses are dirty and poor maintained. Not worth a visit. It has potential though.

My wife & I revisited the baños after a 30 year hiatus and were delighted to see not much has changed with the pools but less than delighted with rude staff and crappy “improvements” like the bath house and crude campground.

30 years ago, I remember a stunning setting and welcome relaxation in the pools with little/no entrance fee or overcrowding. You got what you paid for so to speak. Now they charge 8,000 Chilean pesos (about $12 US) per person. I ended up in an argument with the jerk at the entrance shack who refused to answer some basic questions about who owns the property, why they were charging so much, etc. I think the whole operation is a rip-off. Unfortunately, it’s a long and somewhat arduous drive to the end of the road to just turn around. (Maybe they could use some of the entrance fee to run a grader over the last few kilometers of the road—WTF!!)

Also unfortunate is to see some other Chilean tourist traps that charge Disneyland prices for a Mickey Mouse experience.

Set in stunning scenery but a tricky drive to get there. Just when you think you’ve taken the wrong route you need to continue. Small charge to get in and the changing facilities are extremely limited/simple. We visited in spring when there was still snow on the ground and it snowed while we were in the pools, which added to the atmosphere and stunning views. If renting a car I’d suggest a 4x4 but it’s still achievable in something smaller.

We spent the morning hiking and then drove to Banos.

Don't expect to find fluffy bathrobes or towels.
Bring your own things with you, as well as drinks because there is nowhere to buy anything at the hot springs.
The view from the pools is incredible.

One of our best experiences from Chile :)

The pools were nice and warm, and the view was beautiful. But it was very crowded and the water in the showers was ice cold and there weren’t any proper spaces for changing clothes. Also the toilet was disgusting.

I was excited about this place, that promisses a nice bath in the mountains. The truth is: it's hard to get there, because the roads are not easy (ground road a few km before it and a lot of trucks along the way). Once you get there and pay (not a cheap entrance), you find a place that has no structure at all! The bathroom near the parking lot it's absolutely dirty and disgusting, has no toilet paper and no soap to wash hands. Smells like poop. I tried to go to the top bathroom, that was supposed to be cleaner. No toilet paper and no soap either, and this time smells like pee. The pools were dirty, oily, no way I would go there! Just left the place 5 minutes before getting there and asked my money back! I will notify the Public Health Institute in Chile about it, it's not safe for anybody's health to go there!!!
In time: The only good thing going that way was the breathtaking view of the mountains.

BRASILEIROS: Quase todos os tours oferecidos pelos nossos compatriotas incluem passeio por lá. Perda de tempo e dinheiro! O lugar é nojento e sem nenhuma infraestrutura!

It's a stunning location surrounded by the Andes. We hired a car and stayed in a local hotel. We were up early and there well before the Santiago trippers, quiet and peaceful. The road isn't too difficult, all sorts of cars were making the journey. When you get to the quarry you will doubt you are on the right road. Keep going, you are and all becomes clear. The changing rooms are primative but the final touches to new showers were being made when we were there. Go it alone and have an experience, you won't regret it.

A beautiful place from every angle. Even the trip to get there is just hypnotizing, from the lush forests you see on passing to the beautiful colourful rocky sights of the mountains as you get higher on the road. You can get there by car from Puente Alto, Santiago, reaching Baños Colina in just a couple of hours, I would say between 2 or 3, but of course it will depend on the traffic and climate conditions. I might say I was very lucky to visit it in low season and also not on the weekend, so the road was very clear and my friends and I were the only people in the hot springs! Even though the pools are artificially made of concrete, the bottom is made of comfortably soft mud and you can feel -you can actually smell !- its thermal water. You can really feel its healing relaxing power, as you choose between the different temperatures of each pool. About the climate, that was another pleasant surprise: it was snowing! So my friends and I had the perfect chance to get on the relaxing thermal waters surrounded by that white paradise. However, when snowing, you have to be attentive to return on time, before the road disappears under the snow. I would definitely recommend to visit this hot springs, specially as a daytrip! Another thing: I suggest to bring your own snacks or make sure to stop at the last store or restaurant before you enter the place, as there weren't any options to buy food on the inside; there were only the pools, the bathrooms and some dressing rooms. Last but not least: don't forget the money to buy your tickets! It's about $8000 each person.

Stunning views, nice pools. The struggle to drive there basically made the place feel even better. I suggest you take a 4-wheel-drive, we did have a Toyota Corolla, and the road required quite amount of concentration.

Price was quite high, 8000 CLP per adult, 4000 child from 4 years. Other facilities were lousy. Toilets and showers with muddy floors, no lights even in the changing cabin. Shortly, we did not want to use them at all. No place to store your belongings.

Once you get into the pools, just take your time (and sun blocker!) and relax. Then you will forget all your troubles for a while.

Soaking in a warm natural thermal pool in the middle of nowhere in the mountains, surrounded by snow - need I say more? Blown away. Will remember it forever. Go in the mornings - it gets busier as the day progresses. It's hard to get to (which kind of makes it more special) but soooo worth it.
