Beautiful blue Mountain lake. Other reviews say the hotel won't let you near, however it is completely open to pedestrians to hike. We tried to fish but had no luck. Great rest stop, or photo stop, not whechair accessible though. Didn't have the time but a pretty amazing looking trail surround the lake

If you ever visit Los Andes in Chile or are in the vicinity, I recommend you take a day trip to Laguna del Inca, Cristo Redentor and all the wading trails near Paso Internacional Los Libertadores.

The outlook from this mountain range is astonishing and they beat most things when it comes to nature trails and views.

We were lucky to have a good guide who knows the conditions of the area. He started the trip early so we arrived before the crowd. Most important, we arrived while the lake was still mirror smooth. In one hour the winds started up and ripples appeared on the lake, destroying the mirror effect. By the time we left the lake was covered with waves and it was just not the same. The people who came later had no idea what they missed! One thing to note: there is no easy path to get down to the shore. The slope is very rocky and we didn't want to take a chance twisting an ankle and spoiling the rest of the trip. One couple in our group took the plunge and climbed down the rocks to the beach. A simple path down would have really enhanced the whole experience.

To see Laguna del Inca surrounded by snow and the Chilean Andes is something to behold. Each and every picture is like a post card.

In real life it is really just as beautiful in person as it is in photos. anytime of day the light changes and just amazes.
There are 360 degree views can't really be captured in photos need to just be experienced.

The trip from Santiago to the Portillo Ski area is sensational. There is a section of steep switchbacks just before you arrive at the hotel. The laguna del Inca is behind the hotel.

Beautiful place to stop and view the majestic scenery and learn the legend of the Inca Princess. Make sure you see the painting up stairs that tells the story.

We found a local agency and hopped on a bus to visit the area. It took like a few hours to get there. The ride is nice enough, and getting up the mountain is cool, as we go through like 30 hairpin turns. The lagoon itself is kind of cool but not extraordinary. It is like at the base of the Portillo ski mountain so it does not give you the feeling of being in a remote place. Taking pictures of the lagoon is nice though, as the still water allows for nice effects of the mountain reflecting into the water very symmetrically of course. As it was sunny, the background sky was dark blue. A nice way to appreciate the Chilean landscapes.

In the middle of the Chilean Andes close to the Argentinean boarder you can find this amazing place... untouched place. Its like a mirror and when sunshine nice to have beer or coffee on the terrace. A special place, really!

Recently some friends and I went snowboarding at Ski Portillo. Part of the attraction to Portillo is lake that the ski area surrounds. We walk down to the lake one afternoon and the water was so still and clear that it looked like a mirror. Until we disturbed it by doing a polar plunge on a day when the lake was frozen over in the morning
