Went for the cooking class at 9am. We had a tour around the local market, learned about the different produce and meat and how it is prepared. Being shown how coconut milk is made was really interesting, and knowing that westerners are actually eating “chicken feed” is a hilarious fact I’ve committed to memory! The claw itself was a brilliant experience and I’d highly recommend it to anyone wanting to try their hand and learn some new recipes to take home with them. Both Lyly and Savath were lovely, helpful and being in their restaurant was great. The quality of ingredients was fresh and I can’t fault it. Preparing the food and cooking your own meal, is always a tastier affair in my opinion and the end result (with the guidance of Savath) resulted in some very tasty and filling 4 course meal. Worth every penny

First local market visit with many interesting details. Since we were alone in course we were allowed to put together the menu ourselves. Also suitable for vegetarians. Speaks very good English - so we could benefit from a warm exchange in addition to the cooking class. Be sure to book and take home a small piece of Khmer cuisine. Gives tips on how to make dishes with local European ingredients. Wonderful cooking class with delicious conclusion! Many thanks to the whole team! The restaurant can also be visited without a cooking class.

That was such a beautiful experience in Cambodia! We have had many cooking classes before in Asia, but Coconut Lyly is one of our favourites. First of all, you don’t only get food and recipes. You get a chance to learn more about the culture, everyday life of people living here, what makes them happy, what makes them sad, how different our realities can be. It’s incredibly moving and these talks will stay forever in our hearts, making us reflect on our lives. You also get a very individual treatment during the class - the hosts take care of you, answer many of your questions, pay a lot of attention to hygiene, potential health issues which may disturb your experience, so it’s really nice to be in a place which is still very people-oriented, not commercialized like many others cooking schools. But most of all, the cooking class was just super fun! A lot of jokes, laughter, flavors, spices and warmth from Lyly, his wife and their beautiful family. We didn’t feel like strangers there - after few minutes they made us feel like a part of their community and it was so, so great! After eating all the stuff we had cooked, we could barely move, no food needed until next day. Very, very fair portions and service for the price paid. Highly recommended and I would love to come back again to this place filled with love, laughter and flavor. Go and check yourself!

We had a really great experience at our cooking class at Coconut Lyly. Kindly greeted by Lyly himself, he took us all down to the local market and showed gave us some local knowledge about produce and products. Lyly explained so many processes! He took us to buy the freshest coconut milk one could ever buy. When we got back his beautiful wife took over from there. She was so funny, a great sense of humour and a really captivating, great teacher. We made fish amok, green mango salad, veggie spring rolls and coconut desert. Everything was delicious. I would highly recommend this class! A must do in Battambang.

This was a wonderful experience. Staff were friendly informative and happy to share their knowledge of Cambodian cuisine. The experience included a visit to the local market followed by the preparation and cooking of numerous dishes. I highly recommend Coconut Lyly.

Super experience. We booked 1 1/2 hour in advance and it was no problem. Lyly and family are incredibly welcoming and fun and just really good company. The trip to the market at first was interesting and then Lyly is just a spasmager ↓ Back in the restaurant we made great food in the company of the whole family. So lovely afternoon and evening. Can be highly recommended.

What a fantastic experience when visiting Battambang. Lyly took us to the local market and explained the different produce and Sokkim taught us how to cook 3 savory and 1 dessert. Made us look like professionals and the flavors were amazing. Highly recommend to visit and experience something different on your travels. All for only $15 per person. Bargain!! You can’t have a 4 course meal for that, and you get to learn how to cook it too. Loved it!!

We loved the welcome, the family atmosphere, the high quality of the cooking class, the prior visit to the market, the freshness of the products, and the meal that they allowed us to cook.
We highly recommend this experience.

My family with young kids took the cooking class with Lyly and we had a blast. He first took us to the market (5 minute walk from the restaurant) and explained many things about local products. Then at the restaurant his wife helped us prepare 2 main dishes and one desert that we chose out of a list. The instructions were very clear and it was all done in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We even got a recepie book both in printed and electronic versions. This activity is time well spent plus you'll have delicious new recepies to do back home.

Did Coconut Lyly’s cooking course this afternoon and it was amazing! Lyly showed us the market and told us about local life and foods, then we went back to their restaurant and Lyly’s wife Savath ran us through our food course. She was so sweet, funny and lovely and told us all about local culture. The food was incredible as well — more than worth it! A must-do when in Battambang!!

We did a cooking class in Coconut Lyly during our stay in Battambang. It was an amazing experience. First, we've been to the market with Lyly, the chef who owns the restaurant, to know more about the local products and then we cooked a whole Cambodian menu. Our teacher was a female chef who was really kind, funny and gave us a lot of advices to cook Cambodian food once back at home to replace the products that we don't have. It was a nice moment and we really enjoyed the tasting. Plus this is a familial restaurant and the atmosphere was really warm, everyone was so friendly. We really encourage you to have this experience with Coconut Lyly.

We chose Lyly's restaurant in Battambang to take a Khmer cooking class. We were very well received and very well supervised to prepare 4 dishes including a fish amok. We were then able to taste them. The “cooking class” formula is very interesting because it takes place in 3 stages.
1. We go to the market to buy the products needed for the recipes.
2. We prepare the dishes with Lyly’s adorable wife.
3. We enjoy our own creations!
All this for 15 euros/person is great!
We recommend this formula and especially this charming little restaurant!

Small, friendly table where you can take part in cooking lessons or simply go there to eat. The menu mainly includes healthy dishes. Portions a little small but freshly cooked. I opted for a vegetable and ginger chicken stir-fry. A little more sauce would have been welcome to further soak my rice. Still, the meal was excellent at 27,000 riels.

The hostess is extremely kind and chats with you with warmth and enthusiasm. She thanks you as she leaves for encouraging a family restaurant.

Fantastic experience!
Sukkim is a great chef and teacher. She explains nicely how to cook the dishes and what can be used as a replacement if the ingredient is not available in your home city.
I wholeheartedly recommend this cooking course and good value for money.

Easily the best meal I’ve had in Cambodia. I learned so much and ate such amazing food. I recommend this to everyone traveling to Battambang for a few days, the market tour shows you the city and the cooking shows you the flavors of Cambodia. We made 4 courses for only $10?! Overall an amazing and delicious experience!

A dream morning with the family. First a visit to the very picturesque market with Lyly then the 4-course cooking class including the famous Amok. Friendly and friendly atmosphere. Chef Savath has a lot of humor, explains very well, gives all the tips so that we can redo the recipes at home with equivalent ingredients.
We really had a great time and what a treat when we sat down to eat 😀😀😀

It was perfect! If you are interested in delicious Khmer food and want to learn more about life in Cambodia, we recommend this cooking class. We prepared 3 starters/main courses and 1 dessert (which we were able to choose from a menu). Each one was delicious and the afternoon was really fun! Many thanks to Savath and her husband!
