Big climb up to the top but definitely worth it. A tuk tuk here and back from the centre of Battambang is $10-$15.
The area and the temple are well worth a visit.

The steps leading up to Prasat Banan can take it out of you and there are some kids begging for money at the base, but the temple complex is amazing. It is a wonderfully photogenic place which doesn't attract anywhere near the number of visitors it should.

There are five pagodas which can each be entered and looked around at the visitor's own pace. Apparently the idea for the layout of Angkor Wat came from Prasat Banan's own pagodas. There were a couple of monks there when I visited who seemed keen to practice their English with me.

It is definitely a place I'd recommend to anyone staying in Battambang for a couple of days.

You have to climb a staircase of 358 steps to reach the top of the hill where there are the remains of this temple complex once Hindu now converted to Buddhism. The view from up there, however, is worth the effort and the 5 towers built in the 11th century are said to have inspired the twins to Angkor.
