Another day, another temple. Not sick of them at all. Each are different and they are all so unique. This temple has lovely murals inside but no photos please.
Built in 1113 this is another oldie but goodie.
The temple is known for two things. No. 1 is that it contains such a great array of well preserved frescos on the walls. The oldest of these paintings to be found in Began. Interestingly, each of the frescos have an ink caption written in Old Mon which is an old language in Myanmar. No. 2 is that the temple is near the Myazedi pagoda, at which was found two stone pillars with inscriptions written in four, ancient Southeast Asian languages: Pali, Old Mon, Old Burmese, and Pyu. The inscription on the pillar displayed by the Myazedi pagoda has been called the Burmese Rosetta Stone.
I'd like to be able to include photos but they weren't allowed to be taken.
You can see this temple in around 20 minutes at the most. It's small but perfect. There are some lovely stalls at the entrance and worth engaging them in a chat.

One of the best temples to visit when you're visiting Old Bagan. You'll like the architecture and the Buddha statues.

The temple is really close to Htilominlo. It is smaller than the latter, nevertheless, it is an impressive structure. Different from Htilominlo, it has fantastic, colourful murals especially at the roof. The murals are really old. They are some of the oldest in Bagan. The UNESCO has sponsored and directed their restoration. The colours include blues, yellows, and reds. The murals tell the life of Buddha. You can see his enlightenment and death and transitioned to the nirvana. Not many people visit this temple. It is one of the jewels of Bagan.

Pictures are not allowed. The temple is dark. However, there are lamps at every corner. It is also important to take a flashlight with you, other wise it will be difficult to appreciate its beauty. I saw a tour group that visited very fast. The temple in reality deserves a lot of time.

It is nice to walk outside. The temple is exquisite!

This temple was built by Prince Yazakumara in honour of his father, the great king Kyanzittha. In its heydays it must have been beautiful, but it has been damaged by passage of time. It is built in Mon style . Inside, there are some interesting, but fading frescoes. The trellis windows let in light in an interesting pattern. But be sure to look up at the outer walls. They contain ornate stucco work. At one time the walls must have been full of such artistry, but now only the upper parts have this. The stucco-work in the lower spaces has withered away, exposing the brickwork.
