Spent just few days here wish it could have been more. Travelled everywhere by boat, fantastic saw the fishermen with their baskets, brilliant sunsets, interesrting markets, not to mention the food. Saw a lot of local craftsmen, boat builders, blacksmiths, weavers. Go before its too commercialised. also did a cruise on the irrrawaddy with pandaw, fantastivc crew and food.

We have spent 3 days on the lake taking in the sites and sounds of everyday life. We have seen silversmiths, blacksmiths who do everything from making a simple hoe to repairing boat engines and making new props, weavers ( the only place in the world where lotus flower fibres are woven), boat makers, paper making, fishing, tomato farming, cat... We stopped for lunch at this place and loved the setting of the restaurant and were really looking forward to enjoying the great views while we ate, what a disappointment. We had the chicken and lemon grass curry with coconut rice, the chicken was cooked OK but I couldn't taste any lemon grass or coconut and the sauce was water... More

If you are going to Myanmar make sure to go to Lake Inle. This lake has so much to offer and endless opportunities to see new things. Our boat guy was fantastic and took us to all "must see" locations. From restaurants, to Monasteries, to places to shop and even a boatyard. Seeing the floating gardens and the little cities... Touring the Lake by traditional long boat is an authentic look at the way of life for the people of this area. Seeing local crafts like weaving (cotton, silk and lotus), boat building, blacksmiths, cheroot manufacture, farming and fishing makes you truly appreciate the skill and industriousness of these people. There isn't an electric appliance in sight as everything is... More

One of the highlights of our Myanmar trip was our boat trip on the Lake. We organised a boat at the local village, 10 minutes from the hotel (Novotel). Just walk up the road and the locals will approach you about boats. The boat picked us up at the hotel Jetty 7 AM and we seemed to follow the same... More

We stayed in Nyaungshwe so cannot comment on staying lakeside however it is easily accessible from the town either by boat, bike or car. We took two trips by boat. The acrobatic tourist performances by the fishermen are clever but unnecessary as the more normal spectacles of human endeavor and achievement are outstanding. Took a trip by road along the... More

The most amazing thing in the Inle Lake area, is that one can still see the real way of the local people's lives. We were lucky enough to be there during the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda's festival. That was a good enough reason to on a boat at 05:30... What we saw beside the festival was even more beautiful that... More
