The Hamsa Birds story is the most interesting of this place. Our guide told us back in Yangon about Bago women, who have the pants on in their relationships and marriages. The Hamsa birds explain this story, because the female bird is sitting ontop of the male bird, which "means" she decides. The legend of Bago is, when in ancient times this was all a big sea and out of nowhere these 2 birds show up with a twig and whre the appeared, land arises and peolpe build Bago here.

We enjoyed this place because of the legend of the Hamsa birds, and seeing a very active Nat worshipping shrine. We saw a lot of reclining Buddhas and huge pagodas in Myanmar, this is rather different so worth seeing. Note it is not shiny, new and clean.

This Pagoda is the foremost site of Hanthawaddy Bago & the place where Twin Mon Brothers from Suwanabuumi ( Thaton ) had seen female Hinsa ( Goose ) standing on Male Goose! The most interesting & attracting place in this pagoda is " Bago Me Daw Gyi " Nat Shrine at the entrance of Pagoda. If someone who would like to see Nat Worship in Myanmar , it's one of the best places in Myanmar. Bago Me Daw Gyi Nat is regional Nat ( Spirit ) for Bago Region & Many locals believe this Nat and paying respect to her when they are visiting this Pagoda!

The pagoda itself is very beautiful, and we were fortunate enough to watch the ceremony of excellence - all participants are very smart.

I am not sure it is good tourist attraction but when i on there, i can see view of Kanbawzathadi Palace and Maharzedi pagoda. The view is nice. Besides, i can touch with not only Buddhism but also spirit activities. Nat believers and music players are always on there if we want to experience with it, we have to pay some for it. Among locals, this pagoda and spirit activities are famous.

GO during the sunset and look towards the nearby big pagoda. Its a mesmerizing sunset. In terms of the pagoda, there is nothing special and it is more local oriented.

It's good for a look upon the surroundings, but avoid going around 1pm because the floors are burning hot.

Out with my friend Smith during a full day around this interesting area within the Bago archaeological zone with admission fee for foreign visitors 10,000 Kyats. Arrival on 04/07/16 and walked around temples, street stalls, declining buddha & pagodas , etc.
This zone area would be suitable for all ages & many parts of the attractions or tourist hot spots wouldn't be suitable for visitors with special needs i.e wheelchair access due to uneven pathways & many steps leading to the attractions.

Of all the pagodas we visited, we did not like this one. It is a bit old and dirty. Nothing outstanding. Skip this.
