The area

Neighborhood:
Sé, which derives its name from Sé Square, is a central neighborhood in historic São Paulo. Close by, the Law School, the Museum of the Court of Justice and the Metropolitan Cathedral offer inspiring architecture. If you are looking for cultural activities, head to Caixa Cultural and check the schedule. In the area there is a popular pedestrian street called “Rua Direita”, one of the first streets in the region, which today marks the crowded perimeter. Sé is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.

It is a lovely place with good views. However I feel the site could be used in a better way. The toilets weren't very clean... And sadly the view is just a little too far away and the subject is simply a huge metropolis of blocks of flats.

You can start the hike from the park entrance. We took an Uber to get there as it is quite far from the centre. The hike itself is very doable as the path is well made. There's a good view on the top with some vendors selling coconut juice and snacks. You can also get to the top by car but then have to walk up some 150 stairs to get to the view. Recommended for a half day trip!

Great view of the city and option to go up by walking where suddenly you can meet some little monkeys made the day for my kids. You can also see some native Indians that live close by. Having free time is a good place to check.

It's a great place for those who enjoy Nature and hikes. Easy access, I went by car but I saw bus stops right in front of the park. Free parking lot and free entrance. I did the Pai Zé trail and for people that are not used to phisical excercises It is challenging. Don't forget mosquitoes repelent and water.

I have visited the peak several times bringing out of town guests here to get a view of the city. There is a 360 degree view of the city from the top and it really gives you a perspective of how large the city is. You can see how the area is surrounded by mountains and on a clear day you can see all the way to Av. Paulista and beyond.

You can drive to the peak up a nice winding road in the park and there is parking up at the top. There is very little infrastructure up at the top, so come prepared with water or any snacks you might want. On the weekends there are some food carts selling items, but during the week there is nothing. Once at the top you can climb up the 240+ steps to get to the very top where you will have a great view of the city and surrounding area. While at the park you may have the chance to spot a cute little monkey or two as well.

This is a good quick thing to do with out of town guests. You really don't need more than 30 - 45 minutes there to see everything.

São Paulo is a megalopolis with limited options for nature recreation. This is one of them. The park, like many others, has had its infrastructure deteriorated. There is not any visitor support to speak of. Getting to the park you have to drive through some areas that are not that nice but once in the park, you are insulated from the urban surroundings.

My 7 year old son and I walked the Pai Ze trail to the top of the peak. Its a nice trail through the rain forest that gives way to open terrain near the top. We saw monkeys (2 types) as well as butterflies and really big spiders.

The view at the top is nice but nothing fantastic. São Paulo isn't exactly one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

At the base, there are a few shorter trails and a lake. We didn't walk the other trails but they look pleasant.

This is a decent way to spend a morning or afternoon. Bring food and drink because there aren't any restaurants or snack bars, just a few cart vendors.

And if you don't like hikes, especially steep inclines, you can always drive to the peak.

The trail up is very nice, with lots of butterflies. At the top I got a view of only some outskirts of the city. Now looking at the other reviews and photos, I see that I should have continued a bit further along the car road. On the way down I noticed some of the monkeys, and back at the bottom I noticed there are dozens of monkeys near the entrance. In contrast to the nucleo Pedra Grande, entrance is free here, and you get more animals, and apparently just as good a view of Sao Paulo.

If you want to see how big São Paulo and the surrounding city is this is the place to go! The peak is easy to reach by car, but to get to the top viewpoint you need to walk a couple of hundred meters in stairs. The only thing that prevents me to give this attraction 5 stars is the lack of a store to buy water etc. and the fact that the sanitary facilities are a bit on the dirty side. When I was there they had no soap or paper towels.
