About
Calm, green and refreshing, the city's botanical garden, situated inside the immense Parque Estadual Fontes do Ipiranga (PEFI) on the south side of town, provides a beautifully appointed sanctuary for thousands of tropical plant and animal species. The garden opened in 1938 to preserve part of the remaining Atlantic coastal forest, and it functions as a research facility focusing on Brazilian flora and fauna. The garden also shelters the source of the Rio Ipiranga, which figures heavily into national patriotic lore.

Ota quite relaxing the cintact with the nature.
Can be a good option to take a walk here or bring a book, some snacks and chill out among the nature.
The tocket price is R$10. You may take two hours if you just pass by, without really stop and relax.

Accustomed to botanical gardens elsewhere - it is more a park with elements of gardens than a botanical garden.

The ticket price is 25 at the entrance, and 20 when buying online. Attraction is paid, but there are still some shortcomings, such as missing or damaged information plates, greenhouse 1 out of 2 unavailable, 'witch's house' unavailable. At the end of October - very few flowers, I hardly saw animals either.

Nevertheless, I spent a nice time here, at least 3 hours - first walking around the whole area and then a small picnic on the grass.

Apparently paid parking (I came with Uber, so I can't confirm). Bus stop right at the entrance

Is it worth recommending? Well, apart from the 3 flowers, nothing surprised me here. I saw similar vegetation in Ibirapuera Park, which is closer and free. The whole place looks nice, but needs some work for a paid attraction.

The Botanical Garden is a bit old school with simple museum exhibits, but the place is a nice walk and educational regarding Atlantic Forest plants. A good contrast to a noisy city visit, where you can have an ice cream on the lawn.

Even if it not easily accessible by metro and public transportation, it is worth the visit. You forget this chaotic city as soon as you enter the botanical garden. You do not hear the surrounding noise of the city.
You can walk on asphalted road or non asphalted ones and enjoy a large variety of vegetation.
There is a very good self-service restaurant inside the park, much better than what you would expect in a place where you have no option to chose.

Very peaceful setting with lots of trails winding through the wooded areas. It feels like you’re walking through the Amazon jungle—you may even spy howler monkeys or sloths in the trees!

This botanical gardens were hands down my favorite place that I’ve visited in São Paulo! First off, it’s incredibly affordable to get in. Second, the further you walk into the gardens, the more breathtaking it gets. There are tons of park benches where you can take a seat and soak it all in. I spent a good amount of time just sitting and watching the turtles swim around in a pond. Bring your lunch and a good book and enjoy a wonderful afternoon surrounded by beauty. I’ll definitely be coming back before I leave.

Disappointed with the gardens. Very dry and not really much to see there. The city is not much for tourists.

This is a "must" if you go to Sao Paulo! It has so beautiful sightseeings that people can avoid taking photos all the time! It has a small pool with plants and flowers on it, surrounded by tall trees and palm trees. You can easily go for a walk around the park, on plain trails, trees and plants are identified all along, there are benches (or you can spread yourself on the grass under a tree!), some tables, you can see lots of birds and monkeys (luckly), ducks. There are two big greenhouses and a small museum with botanic drawings. Of course it´s much more beautiful during spring, but you can see flowers in autumn as well.
I suggest that you don´t go during weekends because it gets crowded. Anyway it´s an organized place and there are guards inside.

Sao Paulo never sleeps, has a frenetic pace of life, endless queues of traffic, indescribable one-way systems and never-ending graffiti-but we both love it nevertheless. What is needed is this harbour of tranquillity and calm. OK-frequent parties of excited schoolchildren in full voice but they just give the place a joyful sound. Quite large with a long wooded walkway at the far end. Has a couple of big greenhouses to visit and a very attractive building housing an ecological and historical collection. Good restaurant facility with plenty of outside seating. Big pond areas with aquatic plants and particularly birds. Needs a good sunny day-but not too hot!
