Neighborhood: Pinheiros
Exploring Pinheiros, a neighborhood known for cozy restaurants and cafes, you will notice a youthful energy. Several cultural centers and institutes surround the area and even its main church, Calvário, hosts a traditional Brazilian “Festa Junina” - a celebration with traditional music, dance, and food during the months of June and July. On the weekends, residents gather at Benedito Calixto Square, a loud and crowded area where people enjoy live music drinks alongside the antiquities fair.

The Mercado itself sells all sorts of foods and there are a good number of eating places on the first and second floors. Nearest train station is Sao Bento.

What is even more colourful is the neighbourhood surrounding the Mercado, with shops selling everything from partyware, to baking supplies, to textiles, to homeware, to hardware... you get the idea. Very interesting to pop into random stores to see what's on offer.

A smaller version of the central market. This is a great place to buy fruit, cheese, cold cuts, nuts. There are several stalls with many specialties. And plan to lunch here because the restaurants are all great

This food market has all you need, very close to a subway station, in a renovated area, nice food markets with excellent products from wine to a simple apple, and on top of it several outstanding restaurant for a quick bite. For food market lovers, the Pinheiros market is among the top of the list together with the Municipal market in downtown, the former is way smaller but it has its charm and fits in perfectly for someone with tight schedule.
Parking lot is small but handy and not pricy, recommend to arrive earlier for lunch to find a spot, otherwise there are plenty of parking lots outside it.

Skip the fancy-pancy " Mercadao" which means the big market and refers to mercado municipal in the center. It is easy to reach with the Metro...Yellow line to Faria Lima. This market place is much smaller, has less tourists and to more more genuin...You find almost everything you can find at Mercadao and you will find excellent food, from grilled sardines portoguese dishes , typical food from the North-East to an excellent cervice. Believe me I am your friend...

Mercado Municipal in Pinheiros is one of the typical markets in Sao Paulo, which is visited by local people to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, food and spend time in cafes and restaurants. It is a small market but it must be pointed out that in this market you can find "small shops" of the Instituto Atá, organized by chef Alex Atala in an effort to introduce local products from different areas of Brazil to the people. It is a very nice idea that should be supported by the locals and by the tourists.

Easily one of the nicest markets I've been to in South America.

It's not packed, it's incredibly well organised and there's tons to buy and see, really well worth coming.

There's a ton of amazing fruit and vegetables and an amazing restaurant that serves the world famous mortadella sandwich... It's good!!

Nice place to spend the afternoon drinking a beer, trying the ceviche, pizza and eating at Mocotó. The day I went there was a small food festival happening so that was a super plus, a lot of good food.

Don't miss the stores on the lower floor with foods from all regions of Brazil, you'll get to know a lot more about the country.

Cheaper than the traditional Mercadão de São Paulo but smaller. Very good products, high quality. A few restaurants.

We took a short stop here, because I live foodmarkets. This one is fairly small, if you need to buy something great, but nothing so special that I would recommend to make a detour for it

We visited on a Wednesday during the day time and it was super quite. There are lots of butchers, a veg shop and a few cafes. It's got a very limeted selection of eateries. I would not add this to a tourist trip however I'm sure it's a great place for locals!
