A very unexpected place, considering how close São Paulo is. A nice walk through tropical forest, ending with a panoramic view of the city.

It is over an hour walking to the Pedra Grande, from where you get an excellent view over Sao Paulo. Along the way you can enjoy the Mata Atlantica, and I heard some birds. I also walked the trail to the carper 'lake', but I don't think it's really worth the walk. There is a pond with some fallen trees in it and a playground and some banana plants. Also some palms with a sign warning to stay away from snakes, but I didn't notice any snakes there. You should spend at least half an hour at Pedra Grande, so reserve at least 3 hours for the total trip. I had hoped for more animals, but maybe they are there earlier in the day. Yellow fever vaccination recommended.

Ok to walk uphill, about 3km to the sightseeing place and about 4km to the small lake. View to Sao Paulo is great, but it also makes you sad to see the difference with the beautiful nature and awful buildings made by man. Great that at least a bit of nature has been saved for us to enjoy.

Relatively easy to walk, it has wonderful birds and an astonishing view of the city of São Paulo. There are also monkeys, squirrels sloths and other mammals.
