Neighborhood: Sé
Sé, which derives its name from Sé Square, is a central neighborhood in historic São Paulo. Close by, the Law School, the Museum of the Court of Justice and the Metropolitan Cathedral offer inspiring architecture. If you are looking for cultural activities, head to Caixa Cultural and check the schedule. In the area there is a popular pedestrian street called “Rua Direita”, one of the first streets in the region, which today marks the crowded perimeter. Sé is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.

The Theater is beautiful, and they have a form of instant subtitles, so it's very good for following operas.
But my God, the accommodation is very bad, pay attention when buying the ticket... certain places are not worth it.
I bought the only one available and the first act was terrifying, you couldn't see anything and the chair was absurdly uncomfortable up there. The sector I managed to go to was the Amphitheatre, simply DO NOT BUY, if that sector is the only one available. Anyone taller than 1.60 will be in trouble.
But the performance was divine, and in the second act, I went to another place, which I had seen empty.
My aunt left because she couldn't handle the back pain.

The Theater really impresses. It's beautiful and well taken care of. Very kind and helpful staff. The subtitle feature (used in the opera I went to see) really helps with accessibility and understanding.

An amazing piece of old São Paulo! Definitely worth seeing, especially the interior - it's fabulous! It's a great spot for taking beautiful pictures, too. But you have to be there early, otherwise it's too crowded. Must see!

Teatro Municipal is a very nice Theater. You MUST have a ticket to get in. If you have the chance, book an opera. Carlos Gomes is the Brazilian opera author. Fosca is his master peace and Guarany the most famous one. It has nice sound. And the best seats are the ones at "orquestra" level.
But operas are usualy at nigth time and what you realy must do is what walk around the Theater at business hours. Downtown São Paulo at business hours is very nice. Full of people. Shops. Banks. Brokers. The town hall. Full of history. And at business hours it is safe (please dont keep shaking money around, dont use Jewelry or expensive watchs any where in Brazil).
Take the subway and get of at ANHANGABAU STATION. From there you can walk to the theater. On the way and around you will see many attractions: Prefeitura (Banespinha), BOVESPA (SP Stock Exchange), Largo São Bento - where the city was founded by Jesuitas Priests.
At downtown you have the best and the worst of every thing São Paulo has to offer.
There you can get from a Salgado (snack) and a Juice for R$ 1 real (U$0.50) or have a nice Rodizio for R$ 50 reias (all you can eat Brazilian barbecue).

The theater itself became wonderful after the restoration works of 2011 which included the modernisation of the stage. This beautiful theater with inspiration at the Paris Opera presents in its façade Baroque 17th century Renaissance traits. In the interior we can dazzle with the neoclassical columns and marble floors, walls richly decorated with mosaics, stained-glass windows and many works of art such as paintings and busts based on old photos. The Municipal Theatre of São Paulo provides an educational program with scripts monitored tours where participants know the history of the institution. In days of presentation the visitor can delight with the soups served on the terrace, with the sparkling wines or simply with the sweet or salted in cafés.

This big beautiful example of Ramos Azevedo architerural skills is located on the old downtown São Paulo center. IIt's not a place for newbies tourists, I am so very sorry to say it because it's a degraded part of town and if you did want to came to one presentation, say a Opera, you must arrange for your transportation to leave and pick u up right away.

The Theatro Municipal De Sao Paulo is an iconic and stunning building.
Very impressive, well maintained with beautiful architecture (by Ramos de Azevedo). They also offer a tour if you would like to get inside and know more about its construction and importance.
Highly recommended!

Built between 1898 and 2011, this is a beautiful performance venue. The acoustics were good, but the classic chairs in the "frise" sections were terribly uncomfortable. Nonetheless, it is still worth a visit. Hopefully, the chairs will be changed in the near future.

This theatre is amazing and i love going there. The ambiance is sophisticated, there is a great bar with drinks, soups and treats, and the selection of plays, concerts and operas is always great! The renovation they just did left the place totally breathtaking, as well as the stage and the seating.

Há estacionamento Do Theatro? Qual o valor em dia de espetáculos? E os do entorno?
Written November 23, 2018

Boa sorte.

Você encontrará a programação mensal no site do Theatro Municipal.
Após a visita guiada o pessoal do teatro costuma dar voucher de brindes para os espetáculos da casa...
