The emerald heart of an oftentimes gray city, São Paulo's Parque do Ibirapuera offers respite from the urban madness among cool, shady trees and mentally-stimulating structures. Running trails, bike paths, and yoga and capoeira sessions let locals and visitors alike keep fit, while a clutch of museums and galleries — such as the museums of Modern and Contemporary Art, all designed by master Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer — gives the brain a good workout. The impressive Museu Afro Brasil and fiery Auditório Ibirapuera are two of the park's treasures.

One could spend the whole day in the park! Runners, walkers, basketball, lovers. This park has it all. Bring cash for vendors.

I prefer the Cooper walking path. A bit crowded during week ends though. Make sure you have appropriate equipment (shots, sneakers). On a busy day gettting some drinking water may be a little difficult although I did not have any problem. If air is specially dry on the date of your visit you have to rehidrate often. Percentage of humidity... More

Ibirapuera is a "green island" in the middle of the greyish São Paulo city. It has lakes, snack bars, reading square, planetarium, bike rental and a lot of green. The park is a little bit crowded during the weekends, but still nice.
