We went there for a school homework of my young son and all of us enjoyed a lot with the detailed attention and explanation of the two person there and also with the opportunity to see the planets and stars with the telescope with the presentation from the two gentle men from the place. You pay like 10 reais per car, the road is fine and the experience is worthwhile.

The Capricórnio Sky observatory (near the Capricorn Tropic Line) is located at the highest point in Campinas and surroundings, a the border with neighbor city Morungaba. It can be reached from either city and part of the access is a dirty road (on both sides). The facility is easy to reach and astronomic events can bee observed there. It's very cold out there, specially in clear nights, so take your "countermeasures". Parking is available an the entrance fee, symbolic. It's worth the trip, although the opening times very restrict. Call before you go.

Come visit the observatory in a starry evening and enjoy the sky show as well as the sunset moments before. On the highest place of the region (Pico das Cabras, Goats Peak) here you can glimpse on the amazing view of the whole Campinas region. Consult their website to check the times of the guided visit, when they explain the movement of the stars, the functioning of the equipments as well as the museum permanent collection, dedicated to the space science. To arrive here, try to come with someone who already knows the route, since the road isn't well indicated (the road signs are missing). The starting point is in the Joaquim Egídio village through the paved road and then you must take the dirt road to ascend to the observatory.

Wonderful landscapes on the road and the neighborhood. Observatory facilities are a bit careless nowadays, but it's worth a visit. Located at rural area at the nice district of Joaquim Egidio, Campinas.
