A must-see if you are visiting Santa Catarina island. Full of historical buildings and one of the oldest places here. If you are around go to Ostradamus, an amazing restaurant right on the beach.

80% of the countries oysters are produced here so they are abundant and fresh and cheap and easy to access on the bus system

Well, we really went to this for a restaurant, but once we got there we really enjoyed the village atmosphere, all the water, marina, private boats, all the variety of handicrafts stores — we even bought a few items of souvenirs made of shells; it’s amazing to see a whole skirt made of oysters shells; necklace, bracelet, children toys, etc. really charming also is the tiny yellow chapel uphill. If am back to Florianopolis, I’ll return here. But attention: you will need a car to drive here.

One of the best little coastal strips to take your pick of some really fabulous seafood restaurants. The village is like a little piece of Portugal dropped into Brazil and the original locals are from the Asores.

This place has an atmosphere like you are in another scene! There is colorful house and a old church from 1800's. Fantastic!

I love this beach. Not only for the beach itself, but the surroundings, which emanates history and simplicity. I lived there for almost 2 years and I miss it, even though I occasionally go to my old home and stay there for a few days, great to recover the energy.
Looks like a remote place, very friendly to families and kids. Nearby restaurants sell very good seafood at reasonable prices (esp. at low season). Not crowded at all. It just looks like a piece of a small ancient town.

Very worth it.

Went to restaurant Ostradum on Ribeirao da Ilha. The area is very cozy, lot's of small houses, very different style from what else you'll see on the Island of Florianopolis.
