Let me start by saying we love Grand Targhee as a ski resort. This review is for the kids ski school. We took our daughter for a ski lesson and we were amazed to get a call 30 min later to go pick her up...More

I almost do not want to write this so the world doesn’t find out this was one of the best ski experiences in the country. My fam and I escaped after Christmas for 2 weeks and had an amazing time. The vibe was excellent. While...More

Went over to Grand Targhee for an afternoon of tubing with kids. The tubing is blocked in sections of time. Price is very fair and all information is on their website. The amount of time might seem small but it is actually just right, it...More

Small ski resort, but offers great runs for all abilities. My kids especially liked the green ski area off Shoshone lift. Staff was helpful and friendly. Easy access from parking lot to slopes. A very convenient day of skiing!

I really like visiting here. This is a mom&pop area with big expectations. The only things I might change are the slippery deck outside the Trap bar (several people fell, including me, on the new deck surface, and employees smoking in uniform around the bar...More

We had a Slopeside room in the targhee lodge. Woken up by loud stomping upstairs, sound of water gushing in the pipes and people talking outside the room, scraping ice in the courtyard. Old carpets. No apres ski. Is it worth the Slopeside location? You...More

I can't say enough good things about Grand Targhee. The resort itself is small and quaint., but absolutely first class. It is in an isolated mountain location, far from the bright lights and noise of any town. Walking between the lodge and the restaurant/bar/cafe is...More

What a wonderful day on the slopes. This isn’t our first time here and will not be our last time either. The Grandson took a lesson in the morning, snowboarding then we skied and snowboarded respectively together in the afternoon after our lunch at the...More

Fred's is a pretty easy hike. Another cool hike is to the Wind Cave. Both are not super challenging.

Skiing and snowboarding in Idaho, Wyoming and Montana (3 Replies)
Hi Everyone! Well it's time to start planning our ski vacation....dates are flexible from the end of January to the end of February 2009. We have never been to Idaho, Wyoming or Montana. I ski, my husband snowboards, we are both intermediates. We are thinking about Grand Targhee Ski Resort, maybe a day at Jackson Hole and then maybe Yellowstone. Need your help. Is there decent skiing in Yellowstone or just cross country skiing? Like the smaller resorts versus fighting crowds and long lift...More

Yellowstone Park only offers cross country skiing. Downhill ski resorts are in areas surrounding the park and are all outstanding. Jackson & Alta, WY (Targhee); Big Sky, Red Lodge & Bridger Bowl areas in Montana. The resorts around Jackson are the largest; Targhee (up over the pass) is smaller but has great powder. Big Sky & Moonlight Basin (in the Big Sky area) offer a combined pass with the longest downhill ski runs in the US. YOu need to know that the east, west, and southern...More
