I first visited Natal in May 2010 with my husband to celebrate my birthday. It was our first time to Brazil's North East and we were surprised to find it so very unspoilt and with the quality of life Known to us during the 1950's in Rio. The people were extremely kind and unsophisticated so very helpful, nothing too much trouble! Our visit to the Sand Dunes in the hired special sand carts was thrilling and exciting although at times a rather bumpy exxperience. We encountered so very many beautiful spots, lovely peaceful sandy beaches with rustic restaurants scattered about servng the most luscious fresh lobsters and sea food.

In town there were a few big supermarkets and stores but lacking quite a number of articles we take for granted.Shopping expensive except for the artesan's market where you could obtain locally made goods at good prices. I revisited in January 2011 and it was amazing to dscover the numerous buildings that had been constructed and the restaurants that had sprung up.

Petropolis had changed significantly everything looked much more prosperous although I could still enjoy wonderful beauty treatment at Adco's at fantastic prices. Brazil has always been reknown for beautyfying women. The beauty treatments available at its best. I was so thoroughly spoilt and enjoyed my stay so much that I returned with my husband again in November that year for a whole month and this time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. What a wonderful surprise. Elegant restaurants with magnificent food and excellent service. Camaroes still flourishing and one of our favourite place.

A must while in Natal is a visit to Pipa a holiday resort about an hour or so away from town, somewhat like Puerto Banus in Spain. We stayed at the pousada A Toca da Oca it was like being lost in paradise. Lovely birds, the tiniest naughty beautifully cheeky monkeys that would, posing extravagantly, greet us every day. The tranquillity, the luxury of it all. We did not want to leave!

Every day is Christmas in Natal. Hopefully we shall return early this coming year.

We did a city tour and I had to admit I was a little disapointed: it's not as great as there are in many other cities (Salvador of Bahia, etc.) There are a few old buildings well preserved and scattered along the city. I would recommend to take the boat trip also, specially at sunset.

If you like looking at a bunch of old stuff be my guest. I feel it was a waste of time looking at hand crafts.

We stopped here as a part of a cruise ship city tour. The old prison has been nicely restored and all the old "cells" have now been converted to small shops. Many of the shops do carry much of the same things like lace products, but if you look close, you will find some unique locally made things. Be sure to look closely at the old prison bars and doors while walking around.

BOTTOM LINE: Yes, this is a tourist stop and many things seem to be the same seen elsewhere, but there are a few gems here. Be sure to go up stairs in the administration building to find many cultural handmade items for sale. You'll find many wood carved products and religious items and nativity sets. You will not need to spend over an hour or so of time here. Overall, I liked it. Plenty of cool photo opportunities here. A TripAdvisor rated restaurant is located inside. A police car was outside this facility during our visit for added safety. MY RATING: 8/10.

This is a venue that is designed for tourists - the good news is, their desire is to provide a fun night to tourists. They have delightful dancers whose job is to get people up and dancing, and having a good time - and they are great at it! With a live band, singing, and dancing - a good time can be had by all! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The Tourism Center has souvenirs, clothes, embroidery, drinks and typical sweets. Upstairs there is an art gallery.

Good variety of craft and clothing stores. Few local product stores. Very beautiful view of the bridge, as it is a high point in the city.

The place is nice with lots of shopping options and the best price we've seen so far. It's worth knowing for its history and current affairs.
There are lunch options too, but don't expect it.
There is parking and the staff is very good.
We really liked it.
