This full-day tour of Rio de Janeiro with convenient hotel pickup is a popular choice for visitors with limited time in the area. Going with a guide means you hit all the city’s highlights without the stress of navigating and hear important context about landmarks along the route, including the Christ the Redeemer statue, Sugarloaf Mountain, and the Selarón Steps. Round out the tour with a well-deserved Brazilian-style lunch.

Our original tour of a Favela was canceled and so our hotel booked this. We were a bit underwhelmed walking through the Favela with our local guide until we arrived at Project Morrinho. What a delight to find this ray I’d hope in a Favela. Initially started in 1977 by a group of young boys playing with stolen bricks has evolved into a major art exhibition. These men have traveled internationally and have been featured in National Geographic. Highly recommend that you pay a visit.

Most Cariocas don't live like they do in the center and this tour gives you the chance to visit a favela, with a locally famous artist, in relative safety. You will see the very good and the very bad and get a realistic picture of the life of some poorer Cariocas. The Projecto has a really interesting story that improbably launched its young creators into the Venice Bienniale and National Geographic documentaries. The views of sugar loaf from the favela are as good as anywhere in the city. It only takes 2-3 hours and leaves from the delightful Santa Teresa neighborhood.
