Fine stadium for Olympic Volleyball
Aug 2016 • Family
Adjacent to the Brazilian Cathedral of Football, Estadio do Maracana, is this site of Olympic indoor volleyball. The concrete structure with steeply tiered seating provided excellent sight lines for the matches. After a lengthy metro ride on line 1, fifteen stops from our apartment in Copa, and a 20-25 minute walk from the Sao Francis Xavier stop, we reached the stadium. The Brazilian love for volleyball was evident and the electric atmosphere and the high quality of play made for a memorable experience.
Sadly the food offerings here were no better than the other Olympic venues, but the beer was cold and the hospitality of the hosts outstanding

Great place to enjoy Volley-ball

We went to Maracanazinho for the bronze medal game of Rio 2016 Olympics (USA/Russia). The place is excellent for indoor sports. Each seat has a excellent view (we were in the upper part of stands, cheapest tickets but still we could watch perfectly). Maracanazinho is just next the the famous temple of futbal Maracana. Place can be reached with Metro, stop Maracana on Line 2 or São Francisco Xavier on line 1.
Good visit for sports fans

Olympic volleyball

We were here for the Games and it's a good venue. No seat really is a bad seat. We took line 4 metro subway line or the orange line to get there from copacabana - about a 25' ride with a 20' walk to the venue, which is downtown and probably not the greatest neighborhood but fine during the day and during the Games. It's next door to the larger Maracana stadium.
