Fabulous day in Rio with Patricia from Rio Smiles. From being met at the Port at 8 am we had a full day experience of Rio. The train through the National Park Tijaca to reach the truly awesome marble statue of Christ the Redeemer, we were led to the best photo spots and Patricia was on hand to take our photo memories.
Next stop was the Macarena stadium and another photo opportunity, then the Sambadome where Patricia was very informative and told our group the stories about the Rio Carnival , then onto the amazing Cathedral with floor to ceiling stained glass windows, the Selaron steps which were all tiled by one man who made it is life’s work.
The Sugar loaf mountain was another highlight of the cruise and this is where our fabulous leader became our shining star. The queues were horrendous but Patricia had pre booked our tickets and we within 20 minutes we were at the top of Sugar loaf and enjoying amazing views.
The final part of the tour was a tour of all the beaches and a stop at the famous Copacabana beach for a drink and snack. All too soon we were on our way back to the port. The tour was 8 hours and we couldn’t have seen half as much as we did without our fabulous tour guide and driver. The value for money was outstanding.
This was the second time we had done this tour 5 years apart and wouldn’t hesitate to repeat it again if we are lucky enough to visit Rio de Janeiro in the future.

We booked a bus for 10 people, only 4 of us knew each other to start but all were friends at the end of the tour.
Fabulous, fabulous tour with fast track entry to both Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf. Other tours apparently queued 5 hours at Sugar Loaf!!!
Tour guide Leo was brilliant, even helped translate at the restaurant. George the driver was safe and efficient.
No hesitation in recommending Rio Smiles and Patricia who made everything go smoothly.

We were on a 65 day cruise from Southampton UK around S.America and the Caribbean. We had an overnight stop in Rio. There were 10 of us on a tour. We met our guide Marcello, and he took us to meet our driver and bus. Our first stop was Christ the Redeemer. Luckily we were early and Marcello guided us through to the best part of the station to board the train to get on very quickly. The views did not disappoint, it was everything I imagined it would be. The rest of the day proceeded in a similar fashion. Sugar loaf mountain for which fast track tickets were a lifesaver it meant we could bypass the hue queues. The Seleron steps, football stadium, the metropolitan cathedral and the famous copacabana & ipanema beaches. Marcello's knowledge and enthusiasm (even though he has done this tour hundreds of tine) made our day so enjoyable. I have to say it was the highlight of the holiday and speaking to others who did the ship tour, ours was much, much better. Cannot recommend highly enough. 10/10

Leandro is an excellence Tour Guide in Rio. We Hader do wonderful days with him. A day without hin in Rio is a useless day!!! When we‘ll come back we‘ll be happy to Meer vom again

Patricia is very professional but also sociable and she speaks excellent English. We went on a tour of Niteroi and Lapa which was great fun and I would recommend Patricia to anybody who wants to explore the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro.

Thanks to Patricia, we were able to listen to Rio's music, sample its food and learn its history in private tours that were tailored to our interests. Based on our interests in Samba, she adapted her Rio by Night Tour to take us to hear Samba de Raiz in Lapa. Her tours included sampling cachaça (distilled rum) also in Lapa. She adapted her tour of the center of the city to include our interests in the neighborhood of Santa Teresa and arte naif, as well as a complete history of the neighborhoods of Rio. We originally had planned two tours with her but were so pleased that we added a third tour. Patricia, as a Carioca, loves to show her city to her clients. She was attentive, punctual and enthusiastic.

I was coming to Rio just for the week end and wanted to enjoy every minute. I was not disappointed! Patricia met me at my hotel and took me to the city center. We had agreed we would use public transport and it is my advise so you feel better Rio's heartbeating. We crossed the Lapa arches to reach Santa Teresa where we had a beer at Bar do Mineiro, walk up Parque das Ruinas to grab a 360° view of the city, entered the amazing pyramidal Cathedral of São Sebastião, and took the telepherique to Sugar Loaf. We met later on to have dinner at famous Fogo de Chão in BotaFogo, drunk capeirinhas and danced samba in Lapa where we had a great time and where Patricia guides you safely around the great nightlife. Day 2 started with a helicopter tour of Rio, almost the experience of a lifetime! Breathtaking views of Rio, the Christ, the beaches. The funicular took us through the tropical park of Tijuca up the Corcovado to enjoy the panoramic view at 700m high, and of course the Cristo Redentor, symbol of Rio. Then we met a friend of Patricia involved in the socialisation of the Santa Marta favela that we visited inside out. The tour terminated at Ipanema Sunday market, close to my hotel. Patricia is dynamic, knowledgeable, bold, nice and speaks English very well. I strongly advise anyone traveling to Rio to book her services.

Although we had bad luck with the weather (it rained the whole day) Patricia and our driver (sorry, forgot the name) made the best of it and showed us all the highlights of Rio. I think we have seen even more than usual since there were fewer people around at all the sights and we even could even take pictures at Christ the Redeemer without any other people on it. During the whole tour Patricia gave us great insight into the history of Rio and it felt more like spending a day in a foreign city with a good friend who is showing you their city. We always talked about what to do and where to go next, so it was up to us to choose the sights we wanted to see and even though it was raining the whole time, we felt like we have seen more and got a much better experience since there were much less people. So if you want to see the highlights in one day, we can highly recommend booking the tour with Patricia.
