Visited in 2013. This was a cool place! There's a walking/running trail along the perimeter of this lagoon which is connected by a small canal that separates Ipanema and Leblon Beaches. People stroll and run the trail, there are park benches along the trail. The city that surrounds the lagoon and the geological formations make for a spectacular visual experience.... More

We walked the 2 kilometres to the Lagoa from our hotel on 3 occasions to see the Paralympic rowing events. There is a broad cycling and running path around the Lagoa, which is level and has lots of users. Try an iced coconut at one of the stalls dotted around the paths.

This lake is very good for long rides and biking. You can also rent bikes of different sorts or have a helicopter ride, if you have courage and money. Have something to eat or drink a coconut juice in one of the kiosks scattered around this beautiful lake.

If you're in for a nice relaxing walk, Lagoa is the place to be. Careful during the night tho, sometimes it might be dangerous. Several assaults happened there since I've been in Rio.

Rent a bike from one of the many bike companies scattered through out the perimeter of the lagoon (I think I paid like 10 or 15 R$) then spend two hours biking around the lake. It's a beautiful escape from the bustle of Rio, and on a nice day everyone is out and about.

The Estadio da Lagoa on the banks of Rodrigo de Freitas was the site for the rowing and canoe sprint events of the Olympics. Sitting at the foot of Corcovado, the lagoon has a circumference of over five miles with a jogging, cycling path along its banks, but sadly the waters of the lagoon are severely polluted and the odor... Great venue and vision from well placed cameras which allowed the complete race to be enjoyed. Fresh water refill stations were a welcome relief, along with the beer at the conclusion of each session.
