We joined the free walking tour of Copacabana and Ipanema, which ended here at R. Freitas Lake. We had a simple picnic here and had nice views of the sunset over the lake. There are restaurants nearby so you can get some refreshments and food after a long day of sightseeing.

A good place to spend a lazy afternoon... There are so many things to do in the place... The locals are there to jog, bike or do yoga... You can stay there to take in the view, take pictures, ride a bike as well (there are rentals), or have a cold sip in 1 of the 2 places around...

...It would be around here. A lovely lake in a beautiful area, I could picture the rowing teams charging up this lake a few months prior. Well-kept, safe and quieter than the famous beaches nearby, this lake is a lovely place to spend a few hours.

I visited here in mid November. We walked around the lake several times including crossing from Copacabana to Parque Lage. It's very beautiful with some good bars to stop for some refreshment. There's lots to see as you walk - cyclists, runners, football, basketball and more. The lake has lots of fish, as well as birds. I'd definitely go again!

This local city lake is very picturesque place but what makes this place special is the amount of activities you can do around the lake. Just a great hub of human activities

It's great to go for a walk around the Lagoa! So many different things to see! The lake itself is very beautiful at any time of the day. It's got a bit cleaned up for the Olympics, so it's really pleasant there, plenty of interesting birds and some capybaras if you are really lucky. I would have expected more places... More

The lake sits behind the Hotels and Condos of Ipanema and Copacabana and is a lovely place to pass a bit of time. The locals use it to walk, cycle, jog, keep fit (at exercise points all around the park) and picnic. Lake isn't for swimming (too toxic by all accounts) but it was the location for the Olympic rowing... More

Nice track to bike, run or walk around. You can rent a bike from several different points and cycle around the lake a few times. Really enjoyed a good few hours exploring the area
