Rent a bike from one of the many bike companies scattered through out the perimeter of the lagoon (I think I paid like 10 or 15 R$) then spend two hours biking around the lake. It's a beautiful escape from the bustle of Rio, and on a nice day everyone is out and about.

The Estadio da Lagoa on the banks of Rodrigo de Freitas was the site for the rowing and canoe sprint events of the Olympics. Sitting at the foot of Corcovado, the lagoon has a circumference of over five miles with a jogging, cycling path along its banks, but sadly the waters of the lagoon are severely polluted and the odor... Great venue and vision from well placed cameras which allowed the complete race to be enjoyed. Fresh water refill stations were a welcome relief, along with the beer at the conclusion of each session.

While walking alongside Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, you'll find it hard to decide whether to look down to the beautiful water mirror or up towards the most famous icon of Rio: Christ the Redeemer. Do both.

It is really beautiful to make the full tour, while now and then seeing the mountains.. Great to have a walk, take some time jogging or biking. Security may be an issue - mainly nearby "Corte do Cantagalo", often times in winter it smells bad, and it is a real pity that such a wonderful lagoon is totally polluted. One... More

Beautiful views during the day and night. It's great to do some canoa... It's such a huge lagoon but you can take busses to go around.

This Olympic venue was well set up for the Olympics. The only problem is, as is with most races, spectators could not see the race until the 1000 meter line. However, they had jumbotrons set up so the race could be watched. Under normal circumstances, there is a nice track around the lake and plenty of pleasant, but not spectacular... More

The lagoon Rodrigo de Freitas has a nice view, but It is not "Oh my, God, that is beautiful", just normal and quiet.

The Lagoa was the venue for the Rowing, and Canoe-Kayak sprint events at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. Great place to go for a run, or a bike ride. Vendors along the paths will chop the top off a delicious, ice cold coconut for the very reasonable price of 5 or 6 Reias. Where else can you get fresh coconut... More
