Whether you are a surfer, runner, couple or sunset admirer you have to catch a Sunset in Arpoador. Summer months are the better time in the year to see the sun furthest out in the ocean. Once the sun sets everyone starts clapping and saluting each other ... Unreal! It can get crowded but people are usually respectful, just be... More

Arpoador is a tiny beach localized between Copacabana and Ipanema beach. It has a big rock, where the people climb with no difficulties to see the great view of the sea and all the ipanema beach...with the Dois Irmãos (two brothers) Mountain at the end...

Beautiful place to go for a walk and enjoy the sunset with some coconut water! But be aware and don't take anything valuable with you.

Nice for a walk and if you are lucky you will relax looking at the sunset (it depends of the weather). Avoid the weekends, is so crowded..

Try to visit this place but not during weekends cause peekpockets do their job well. Try to climb the rockets but only at the normal way unless you are a great climber. Take kare also about a beach name Devil Beach that is beside Arpoador cause the waves are too big and the surfers prefer those area. By the way... More

Anytime is good to pay a visit to Arpoador, you can sit on a bench and relax looking at the surfers! At sunset, sky colors are incredible... pack a bottle of wine and go for a romantic date to watch the sunset! (expect some other people having the same idea)

Climb that rock at the very end of Ipanema (don't be afraid but don't go too close to the edge either!) and wait. Best sunset guaranteed!

The Arpoador in Rio de Janeiro is a beautiful place, the view from the top of the Rock is amazing. The day of my visit was raining in on part of the city and I could observe the rain coming really quick. It was an amazing view.

Arpoador beach is definitely worth visiting if you stay in Rio. It is located between Copacabana and Ipanema beach. At the left side of Arpoador beach is Diabo Beach. It is a small beach which is frequented by surfers, racquetball players and when the municipal guard is not in, by people with his dogs (which is forbidden). I definitely recommend... More

However that was a bit cloudy it was a nice spot to see the city at night. Good possibility to climb on the rocks after collected some shells and stones on Ipanema. The weather was windy so nice waves from the Atlantic ocean. I wish to see the view when the sun goes down. The beach was lighted so some... More

Staying in Ipanema

Neighborhood Profile
Ipanema
Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from Ipanema.” Ipanema is an upscale area, home to many high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue. The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing many art galleries that show contemporary art. There is also a great variety of nightlife in the neighbourhood, which buzzes with many options for every taste.
