Amazing view to share with someone you love.

You have to see it to feel it. Arpoador in the early hours of the day or at eventide is a "must see" place while you are in Rio de Janeiro.

Great fun to climb the rocks and wait for the sun to set over the mountains. Need to get there about 5pm at this time of year - and you can go for a swim on the flood lit beach afterwards. Look out for the gorgeous Jonathan who walks round with trays of caipirinhas (passion fruit ones are fabulous). Go... More

Loved going here to see the sunset! Got some great pictures, relaxed on the big rocks and listened to the sound of the waves. It is very peaceful and safe. Many locals and tourists alike are there. There are even some guys selling caipirinhas. It's a great way to spend the late afternoon.

beautiful place, you can have a splendid view from the rocks, but should do so when police is around. the beach is also great, but would not recommend it for security reasons. go further on on the Ipanema beach, closer to the Caesar Park hotel where it is much calmer.

IT is the most beautiful Place to admire the sun set In Rio. The Beach during the week is great, a quiet and lovely Place to swim, surf, dive or stand up pedal. After the Beach You Can easily Walk and reach Nice places to eat!

Arpoador is a very good beach to go everyday but not on Sundays, specially in Summer time. Is full and quite dangerous sometimes. Choose weekdays that is empty and equally beautiful. Best time to go to Rio de Janeiro´s beaches is on April/May. The water is more warm and clean. You can see the fishes around you like Caribe !... More

Need to scape? You should try this amazing view of the beach. There's a lot of places nearby, restaurants, bars & kiosks for a beer. In my opinion you guys should try one of Bohemia's ( made at a mountain city called Petropolis) beer. Sit at a bar and ask for the new Bohemian beers. I tried the 14 weiss.... More

Recommended to visit close to the end of the afternoon. Usually lots of people go there to see the sunset. A really relaxing place.

It's a very beautiful place I'd recommend to watch the sunset. You can see all the Ipanema's beach. But watch out it's very, very windy there (it's so windy that the sand can hurt you eyes and skin...)

Staying in Ipanema

Neighborhood Profile
Ipanema
Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from Ipanema.” Ipanema is an upscale area, home to many high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue. The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing many art galleries that show contemporary art. There is also a great variety of nightlife in the neighbourhood, which buzzes with many options for every taste.
