This was definitely the highlight of my trip! Both our driver Gilberto and Tour guide Giselle made us feel so comfortable and welcoming. Giselle was knowledgeable kind and spoke very well English which was a plus. This was my favorite day of all so much exploring and one of those days when time doesn’t matter. I must say our tour guide added even more of a special touch to this experience.

We did the Botanical Gardens and the Tijuca Forest jeep tour. We had an English language guide. There were only four of us on the jeep, two couples, so the jeep was not crowded. It arrived at our hotel on time. We did the Botanical gardens first and our guide was very informative. The fun was going up the mountain road to Tijuca Forest and the Vista Chinesa. Much better than taking an Uber. Although the Jeep costs more (worth haggling by email) we wanted to explore Rio with something more than just taking Uber everywhere.

We were one of two couples who took the full day tour. With us was our guide and three trainees. The four tour employees spent almost all the time talking loudly to each other in Portuguese and the four paying customers were given occasional pieces of information. I would have to abruptly interrupt their conversation to ask a question. The guide’s English was poor and he was often unable to comprehend or answer my questions. This was my worst experience on a tour.
