Full of life!

Bustling with life and things to do, a day in Rio is always well spent at Copacobana! Everything from beach chairs to caipirinhas are readily available!

The beach is very busy but clean. My wife was mugged and had her necklace stolen by young boy on a bike. Don't take any valuables with you

Really just another beach - nothing to set it apart from all the other blue sky blue sea city beaches around the world. Not peaceful- more people than usual wanting to sell to you but Rio has no money. Watch out on the promenade if you walk past someone crouched down. The scam is that they squirt mustard onto your... Copacabana is a great beach and deserves it's world wide reputation. Long stretches of golden sands. Crowded with locals as well as tourists. Loads of vendors to sell you food as well as things you could never, ever want! Lovely to swim in, paradise really except for one thing - not the place to come for peace and quiet! A... More

My wife and I walked in the surf and also on the great paved sidewalk. The beach is indeed beautiful, but it was also fun to watch folks playing 2 on 2 soccer beach volleyball ! It is worth one's time to visit whether or not you are a beach bum.

We went in November 2015, so missed my time to review. But if you can go, by all means go soak up the beautiful area!

The sand is really nice and clean. The water is also clean and very inviting. I was a bit surprised, however, at how few people were actually on the beach. I was also expecting lots of shops and cafes along the road in front of the beach. There was very little. It seems like there aren't many tourists and so... More

A very long stretch of fine sandy beach backed by a wide and clean promenade with lots of places to take a break to eat, drink and people watch. There are areas of the beach kept primarily for beach games which seemed to be very popular. We are not beach goers but enjoyed walking almost the entire length of the... More

12April2017 MUST super careful, so many people/criminals asking for money or even rob jewelery we wear. Nothing much on beach, nothing special. Strongly not recommended

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
