- macagm97Buenos Aires, Argentina59 contributionsSuper crowded but picture perfectI highly recommend going early in the morning (before 11 am) since it gets very crowded easily. It is an amazing property surrounded by greenery, great to visit and take amazing pictures. The main fountain is the best spot, and threfore you have to queue to get your picture there. The entrance is completely free, but the first floor has a 10 R fee (totally worth it). There is an amazing restaurant at the back, with very good food and reasonable prices (regular service though).Visited January 2020Written March 6, 2020
- Jools1979Scunthorpe, United Kingdom1,427 contributionsNice spot to visitNice spot to visit, liked walking around the greenery and the cafe was reasonably priced to relax and have a beer. The annoying thing is the large photo queues that build because the selfie obsessed generation like to think they are glamour models and cause congestion while they want their boyfriends to take vast numbers of photos of them on the pool edge pulling stuoid poses. Take a couple of pics and move on politely!!Visited February 2020Written February 18, 2020
- Remek RLobez, Poland82 contributionsMust seeOne of the few places called "must see". Fantastic views and location. In addition to the nearby botanical garden, educational paths in the park and the surrounding Atlantic forest, it only creates a whole. I highly recommend it, although you have to take into account the possible increased tourist traffic. Currently, in the period of pandemic restrictions, visiting the palace itself is limited to 100 people at a time, but you can register a visit online, which significantly improves your stay. You will not spend much time in the palace itself because it is a small building without additional attractions and the two cafeterias inside, even by local standards, have quite average service. However, just seeing the palace should be entered as a mandatory point on the route of visiting the area. Ther is a toilet but rather to be used in emergency only 😉. I recommendVisited September 2021Traveled with friendsWritten September 2, 2021
- Marcelo F7 contributionsBeautiful yet super crowdedBeautiful park with a large native forest area. The lush jackfruit trees and the royal palms line the entire area, that includes grottos, old ruins and a beautiful museum/chateau. This building is the main attraction of the park, with a decadent pool in an inner patio adorned with neoclassic columns and a beautiful view to the Corcovado, the Christ the Redeemer’s hill. The entire experience is free, but inside the chateau there is actually a cafe that is a bit overpriced. Skip it. The downsize to the entire experience: it is über crowded, so plan in advance; booking a reservation with at least 10 days (via their website) would be the smartest thing to do.Visited January 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 4, 2023
- Diego Sánchez5 contributionsTerrible experience, this place is a restaurant and they would not let you visit it unless you prior reserve and consumeThis was an awful experience in Rio, turns out this place is a cafe/restaurant as well and the only possible way to visit it is with a prior reservation. There wasn’t any information at all about that so I went directly and they denied me the entrance… once I was there I went online quickly to try to reserve any possible spot and the next available options was 1 week after… time I wouldn’t be in Rio since I’m only vacationing for some days…staff was super rude and unfriendly. I wasn’t interested in having food there, I just needed 2 mins to take a picture and leave. Seems like the restaurant took over the place and if you don’t reserve and consume with them you can’t visit it.Visited October 2021Traveled soloWritten October 10, 2021

It is such a hidden gem and is located in the Botanical Gardens, near the city centre. The gardens themselves are worth a visit and are rich in beauty in reference to the vast diversity of trees, flowers and monkey. Parque Lage hosts a stunning pool, museum and art exhibits, a library and a restaurant. The restaurant is expensive for Brazil's standards, but the food looked of a great quality and in a stunning setting. The aesthetics of the place is so endearing and I recommend this place as a must see.Visited May 2019Written January 7, 2020
- Sweagle97Macon, Georgia318 contributionsGreat place for family funThe timed admission to the Palace is not really any value added if you get a snack in the cafe. It is used as an active art school, so only really two rooms to visit that aren’t modern art classrooms. The roof is accessible, but only with a purchase from the gift shop. Your time is much better spent exploring the “caves” and “castle” that are great for adventurous children, but keep an eye on them since they are built to non-existent safety standards. Not dangerous, just not dummy-proof.Visited June 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten June 16, 2023

I recommend this place as a great location to visit when there are no low clouds so you are able to see Christ the Redeemer. The Christ sits atop 710 meter high mountain and the Parque Lage sits at the bottom. SO the views are incredible.Visited February 2020Written February 11, 2020

We visited this location after the Botanical Gardens, which are about a mile away by foot. There were lots of signs here to not walk alone, as it is not manned with a security team like the Botanical Gardens, but we felt safe. Just be smart and aware. Lovely photo ops.

The restaurant is beautiful, with a forever queue of people wanting a photo by the pool. Food was fine, but overpriced for what it was (although still cheap with current conversion rates). Service was poor, with one meal arriving in about 10 minutes but the other 15 minutes later. They kept apologising but weren’t that bothered. Still worth visiting, but just have coffee!

Didnt make a booking but got a table after waiting for 10mins. Expensive food/drinks however nice setting and great to take pictures
Additional charge to go up to the top level. The charge goes to the local art college but not really worth it.
Lovely views out the front too
