Always a good exhibition going on. The building was Banco do Brasil´s headquarters and was restored and converted to a Cultural Centre, some 30 years ago. Just the building itsel is worth the visit.

CCBB is constantly changing their temporary exhibits featuring artists, painted, sculptors, musicians from both up coming and already established backgrounds and reputations. From the get go you're immersed into the world of art starting in the huge atrium of the museum. On two of the upper floors you can enjoy the museum's permanent exhibition of colonial personages and furniture which marked the... More

AMAZING! Thirty years ago BANCO DO BRASIL's headquarter was adapted to become a cultural spot in downtown Rio. installed on a buiding inaugurated in 1906, here, you will find art exhibitions, movies, plays, and live performances. With a huge coupole, the building is a unique piece of architecture. A restaurant, a coffee-shop and a bookshop focused on art completes the... More

This is a must see place in Rio. Next to the recently opened Olympic Boulevard, it always has excellent expositions, art movies and plays at a very accessible cost. Have an expresso, visit the bookstore and admire the beautiful building. Then go outside and stroll along the waterfront, or stop at other cultural centers nearby.

I was just walking by the Candelabra Church when I saw this museum. The building per se is gorgeous. There is a nice bookstore inside it and the visit is free.

They always host the most famous expositions and you can rely on their quality. We went for the Patricia Piccinini ComCiência exposition. The historical building is well-maintained with several attendants, water fountains, and clean toilets. They have old lifts and mesmerising stairs. Would recommend seeing which exposition they have on during your stay. Although we didn't go, they also have... More

Music? There are weekly concerts featuring classical and popular music. Theater? There is always some good play you might want to see. Cinema? There is usually a series featuring a famous film director or actor, or a retrospective series featuring a certain age. Visual arts? The Center boasts of many memorable exhibitions - Monet, Picasso, Kandinsky, to name only a... More

The Banco do Brasil cultural centers are always a good choice for the art lover in any Brazilian capital. In Rio, it occupies the historical building of the bank. Brazilian and world art are always present in well curated exhibitions.

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
