I'm a carioca and this is my favourite place in Rio

the calm, the green, the smelling of a garden in the middle of the city and a nice caffeteria is the perfect mix that makes botanical gardens my favourite spot in Rio

This is one of the most beautiful well-maintained gardens I've visited. The fountain is a great place to linger and view Corcovado from another angle. The variety of palms, astounding. The snack bar has a children's play area next door. The monkeys came to visit as we sipped fresh squeezed juices. The surrounding area has wonderful restaurants too.

The place is well taken care of and offers a great amount of species to be seen for nature lovers. Dress light, especially during the summer.

My wife, daughter and i visited the Botanical Garden a few days before the opening of the Olympic Games. It was a very pleasant and relaxing experience. The little monkeys were fun to watch and the orchids were beautiful. In a bustling city such as Rio de Janeiro this was a great place to spend a few tranquil hours just... More

The botanical gardens are beautiful and well-organised, and easily accessible by public transport. The entrance is R$10, and students get half-price. The museum was still undergoing work and was not worth visiting. We went on a cloudy day, but I would recommend waiting for a sunny day to see the full beauty of the gardens. We stayed for around 2... More

Once inside you have no idea that you're in a huge city. It was so quiet and beautiful to visit. The monkeys are really funny and playful. This area it's in is one of my favorite hoods in Rio and this spot is a must see.

Really enjoyed our visit - provided a piece of serenity in a thriving , hectic and noisy City. Beautiful place - the avenues of trees are fab to walk.
