With so many attractions, places and unique views in Rio, Botanical garden is also wroth going, even for a while. You can find plants, trees and flowers from all over the world. The experience was really inspiring and refreshing. Unfortunately during our stay there was no possibility to expercience rose garden (not in May) but we have had an amazing... More

didn't look it's best in august winter, but still definitely worth a trip, probably a half day is enough. Excellent value at only 10R. Fantastic monkeys all over the place, come right up to you. We Ubercabbed it, it was only 14R from Flamengo, but the cab back had some difficulty finding us as there are several entrances to the... More

Lovely walk around botanic gardens, lush and green, plenty of shade and seating if it's hot. Well signposted, small gift shop. Toilets all around. Some of green houses were a little tired.

With so much to see in Rio we ended up visiting the gardens in a rain storm to ensure we got to see it and it was worth getting soaked for. The avenue of trees were impressive and the whole place is lush and green, lots of different areas with different plants and trees. With the mountains in the backdrop... More

Jardim Botanico was one of my wishes when coming to Rio. It's very huge, so you must be willing to walk a lot. You pay an entry fee (R$ 10,00 /USD 3,50). It has a map so that you can locate yourself and plan your visit path. You will see lots of trees from the rain forest, Amazon forest and... More

Wonderful less hustle visit through the gardens. Extra happy to see so much bamboo outside of Japan. So close to monkeys and fish. Did not get up close with toucans 😦

The botanic gardens are a nice place for a wander, if not quite up to the standard of places like Kew Gardens in London. Well-landscaped (though bits were under renovation in September 2016 and apparently overdue on being finished). There was a great orchid show in the orchid house and a whole colony of monkeys nearby. Worth a trip if... More

The gardens themselves are well-tended and easy to navigate with a map. A perfect spot to while away a warm summer's day, as the trees and shade make it feel much cooler than the rest of the city. Managed to see monkeys, marmosets, and a couple of toucans while there. The old aqueduct was also interesting. Not really into plants... More

The park is huge and is a good opportunity for a walk, however we visited the garden in September and it is still winter in Brazil. There were no flower at all. What annoy you the most was the lack of direction, the inaccuracy of the map and the lack of sign to highlight what is highlighted on the map.
