    Beautiful and peaceful place.
Really enjoyed escaping the crowds of Rio for this oasis. The Atlantic rain forest walk was my favorite. Amazing tropical plants and nice orchid greenhouse and cactus garden. If you like gardens and are interested in plants, you will love it. If not you might find it a little boring.

    Beautiful
We rented the 30 minute tour with golf cart and tour guide and it was fabulous! I would recommend doing that then if you wanted to take more time to just walk leisurely around you could do that. We were on a time crunch so we chose to do the quick visit and loved it! Our guide was great too. Truly Beautiful.

    Unmissable any day
An unmissable place no matter what day it is, rain or shine, cold or hot… the garden remains beautiful! We went on a cloudy day because we couldn't enjoy the beach and it was incredible! It doesn't even feel like you're in chaotic Rio de Janeiro! Allow 1 to 2 hours to take your time to see everything, and when you leave, visit the museum (free) ATTENTION: the box office does not accept pix or cards, so take cash to avoid surprises!!

    Our favorite part of Rio
So glad we went here on our trip! There were times when it was hard to believe we were in such a big city! There was a lot to explore here and some fun benches to sit on so you can really take your time here. My husband and I both agreed that it was our favorite thing we did in Rio! We went in the middle of the day (it was a heatwave) and it wasn't too busy. Walked from Ipanema and then ubered to Christ the Redeemer after. Was really lovely.

One of the most perfect places in Rio de Janeiro
The garden is wonderful. The ticket price is fair for everything you can see inside. The visit can last all day if you want to see all the spots. It's a clean place, with good structure, kind employees. Point of improvement: power outlets available for visitors

    I loved
It was cloudy in the morning, so it was ideal to go. We took a taxi from Copacabana, which cost us 32 reais, decent man. But be careful, because on the way back we found one parked at the exit of JardĂn, and we made the mistake of not asking how much it would cost us, and it scammed us. He charged us 72 reais and gave us change with a fake bill, so be very careful. Admission to the Garden is 55 reales for those over 60 years of age. Beautiful, they give you a map and after passing through some turnstiles, you have to start on the left. There is a cactus garden, waterfalls, a lake with camalotes, orchidarium, bromeliads, insectivorous plants, gazebos, paths with palm trees, a fountain, a small Japanese garden, medicinal plants. We saw monkeys. You have to calculate about 3 hours.

    Great afternoon out
Great day out. Lovely gardens, shady and well planned. Excellent to walk to. Cheap to get to from Copacabana by Uber. 30 Brazilian. Monkeys, parrots, birds, insects, cactuses and orchids. Humming birds and giant Lilypads. Would definitely recommend and half price for over 60’s

    Relaxing few hours
Lovely gardens. Pleasant walks and some interesting fauna and flora. Well worth a visit if you have half a day to spare. Plenty of weird and wonderful plants, many of which those from cooler climates will recognise as cultivated house plants, Make sure you take cash - cards not accepted and its around ÂŁ12/$15 pp to enter.

    Beautiful encounter with nature
It is a beautiful place to visit as a couple or family. It is full of nature, we also saw monkeys and toucans, the Orchidarium is wonderful even though it is not its best season. My recommendation is that you go very early, then the heat won't let you live. Inside there is a cafeteria that has menus to eat... We ordered for two people and it was too much food. Very delicious. A beautiful place.

    Amazing experience!!!!!
It takes 25 minutes to walk from Parque Lage to the Botanical Garden (leaving Parque Lage, turn right and follow the Avenue). First visit Parque Lage, which is crowded, and then go to the Botanical Garden, which is very easy to walk around (there are golf carts to take tourists, paid separately, check the website). It will take around 3 hours to complete the circuit. They give you a map of the points to be visited at the entrance, ideal is to buy your ticket in advance via the website. Very beautiful park, has huge trees and the VitĂłria-RĂ©gia area is wonderful.

Stunning place to visit, if you know what to expect.
The tickets for foreigners cost more than for the locals, and you can only pay cash. If you are ok with that, go and enjoy this absolutely stunning park.
Make it your own journey, we walked it through without a guide or without any organised groups and we absolutely loved it.
We saw many examples of fauna and flora as well as enjoyed amazing views.
We visited the gardens just after a big rain and the air smelled wonderful.
One of the best things to do in Rio.

Beautiful place, organized and well taken care of! We use the transport carriage and it is excellent for those who have some difficulty of locomotion, as the complete journey is of approximately 4km. The imperial palm street is the high point and for plant lovers we find diverse and different species.
From there we see Christ the Redeemer, which completes the tour!!
What I found pretty bad are the bathrooms: poorly arranged, no lids in the toilets, old, no cleaning. I am wondering why they do not take care of the space that is quite used, because the visits go 3 hours! To this there is a fee of R$29.00 (July 2024), which must be used for maintenance.

Beautiful contact with nature. The walk offers a great feeling of peace. We went on a cloudy day and it was ideal, because it wasn't raining but it wasn't hot either. About 3 hours should be allocated to do the recommended route in a calm manner. They only accept payment in cash, keep in mind because it is not very cheap and one does not always have the cash available.

Nothing spectacular, the orchidist the flowers almost nonexistent. It's worth it because you can take nice pictures, but it's all very weird compared to gardens in other countries. I recommend taking the cart only for very few reais more than the shared one that takes time to pass and if it comes complete (6 people) you have to wait again for the next one. Recommended walk for a cloudy day

Save your time and save your money. I am not sure what is there to make so much hype about this garden because we have been to much better gardens before. Except for line of palm trees that’s good for photo taking, You go to Orchidery (it’s a greenhouse ) and you don’t see a single Orchid. You go to Bromeliad greenhouse and nothing is there. Water Lily lake has the buds because the flowers blossom after sunset and close back at sunrise. The entrance fee they charge is too much. R$75 for non-Brazilians and they only accept Brazilian currency in cash. Even street vendors selling water bottles accept USA credit card but thus the ark does not. Tour guides are not botanists, they are just drivers taking you there and walking you they the park which you can do it yourself if you do decide to go. If you don’t go, you are not missing anything.

I am a resident of Rio de Janeiro, I went to the Botanical Garden with my family and when we arrived we already encountered a very ignorant payment system. In the box office he could only pay with live money (which no one carries today) and could only pay with pix and credit card if it was online. Until then, it's all right, it's a tricky situation for some, but understandable. Coincidentally, the day I went, the pix system had crashed, so the qr code didn't work, nor the code to copy and paste. The employee was alone and couldn't help. To pay by credit card, it was necessary to register and report all card details on the website. For me it is a shame that such a well-known and prestigious tourist spot as the Botanical Garden does not have a credit card machine. In addition, to file a complaint it was necessary to sign a ridiculous booklet. All super antiquated and archaic, really passes a very bad picture of Rio de Janeiro and our systems. Do better.

Before starting, please note that they only accept cash, not cards and that there is a discount for MERCOSUR countries. Now, the Garden is beautiful and very large. I don't consider it a must-see stop, but if you have extra time in Rio de Janeiro I would recommend going, since due to its size and the heat of the area it can wear you out an entire morning and afternoon. There are very pretty plants and everything is very organized. The restaurant is good although small. Be careful with the macaques if you go with children to avoid a bad time.

Charging three times more non brasileiros visitors is just disgusting. Furthermore, cash only for foreigners as non brazilian credit card are not accepted for online ticket purchases. When queuing in café the staff prioritise seating brazilians. Just ruined impressions whatever the plants and trees might me nice.

UNfortunatley we arrived out of season so there was very little color and trees in bloom. They did offer a senior discount, as well as have discounts for local residents. WE found it easy to just take an Uber from our hotel. Remember to get a map at the entrance. They do have a hop on hop off train/car that goes to 7 stops for an additional cost, but the gardens are not that large and you can easily walk to all the stops.

The place is what you say about it, and a little more, tidy and clean considering it is an outdoor park. If you like nature photography you may be several hours without realizing it. A plus: a sector with native bees that surprise with their distinct hives (honeycombs). A lagoon that is home to large pacĂşes. Monkeys and various wild birds. Now I saw that you can pay entry by card and older adults from Mercosur countries, we pay half the general price. It is important to get the brochure with the plan of the place, to orient yourself well. There is no parking on site, we were able to park at the racetrack located in front of the main entrance, paying a not excessive fee.
