You’ll find historical spots, spectacular views, a beautiful waterfall, a small chapel and unusual trees in this dense, tropical national park, probably best explored by jeep tour.

Our tour guide Manu Peclat (See my review of him) took us here on our tour thru Rio. It is really a beautiful place with a lot of great photo opportunities. I highly recommend.

We booked a jungle tour for half a day. Experiencing the jungle is nice, the guide 's English was very good, and the trip was very informative, but we were mostly in the jeep and just had a small walk through close to the main...More

A very unique forest, with a story to tell. Peaceful and calm views. A contrast to the city below. Beautiful scenery , fresh and green.

If you have an extra few hours during your visit, I would recommend a visit to the Park. Important that you have a good guide and a tour company that specializes in Tijuca National Park. The vegetation gives you a sense for the various kinds...More

A few waterfalls, small museum, and lots of flora. But if it's at all cloudy, you'll miss the the views of Rio. It's a long drive up and back from the city so you should allow at least 3-4 hours for a tour.

We did this as part of the Big Dude Tour and saw enough to satisfy our curiosity. The park is beautiful and if we were coming back to Rio, I would plan to spend more time here. Easy to do on your own if you...More

This tropical park starts in the city of Rio de Janeiro and spreads out over Gavea high up. Dont miss the Vista Chinesa. If you are in shape do it by bike, stunning views

With monkeys roaming freely, many scenic view points, including the Chinese vista, and an abundance of flora and fauna, this park seems so far removed from the city of Rio.

Yes, but not very often. It's better to take a private car.

Hi, I want to do a hike in the forrest. Is it possible to do hikes alone or should I book a guided tour? If possible, can I go to waterfall and the highest point on the same day by foot? Thanks :)

I don't think it's necessary to get a guide. If you're a runner, once you get in the park, follow the signs and see where the running lanes are. There are a few, and some go by beautiful waterfalls. Enjoy it.

We are travelling to Rio De Janeiro in October, we want to go to the Tijuca National park but are concerned about insects and moscito bites. Did anyone have problems in that area? Or are we just being paranoid?

You're not being paranoid, but to be sure, bring some OFF, or other lotion to put on to protect yourself. I've been there twice, at different times of the year and never used anything, with no problems.
