Prainha Beach is a secluded half-moon-shaped beach, bordered on each side by rocks and high cliffs. It is one of the best surfing spots in Rio, and may be reached by car or by the orange "surf bus" that passes through Copacabana and Ipanema.

I visites this beach during the Easter long weekend and did not regret it: a flabbergasting beach populated by loads of beautiful shiny people. Nature at its best. Dont hesitare: take a day to visit it and enjoy the sun, the wild beach and the mountains around. Have fun!

Fantastic beach located very near The Recreio dos Bandeirantes area. Good for surfing or relaxing... Almost a retreat!

This beach is open to the people but it is a little private once it is located far from the most famous ones. There are good places to go around it too.

Not as busy as Copacabana or Ipanema beach and a good place to slip away from the crowds. Go in the morning as the water is calmer.

Most beautiful beach in Rio. During the weekends is very crowded so I suggest to go there during the week.

Best beach in Rio, no doubt! Far away if you are around Copacabana, only accessible by car and very early (not much parking space, arrive before 8am), but it's worth it!

On the side known as Abrico, it is surely the best beach in Rio. Outstanding views when driving there. After Arico, by the end of the beach, is nice also, more popular. If you go further ahead, to the top of the hill (drive careffuly) there is a restaurant with great fish and wonderful view.

Definitely a more rustic local beach well work the cab ride. Watched families cook out near the rocks and fish while others laid out on the beach or played in the water.

Having traveled here many times, it's a small cove just great for surfing or wave jumping. A wonderful restaurant nestled in the tress over looking the beach. Great for all the family. Highly recommend it.

Visited this beach after talking to a guy from a local surf shop. It's on the outskirts of Rio, in the newer part of the city. Took us more than a hour to get there by car, but it was worthwhile. A really beautiful place, in the middle of nature, excellent for surfing. Luckily I had brought my wetsuit because... More
