Prainha Beach is a secluded half-moon-shaped beach, bordered on each side by rocks and high cliffs. It is one of the best surfing spots in Rio, and may be reached by car or by the orange "surf bus" that passes through Copacabana and Ipanema.

Paradise

This beach is great if want something more calm and not as populated as some of the mainstream beaches. There is also hiking nearby with amazing views.

it is one of the hidden jewels among the beaches of Rio. if you do not have a car it will be difficult to get there. i strongly recommend that you ride along the beaches and have a clear view of all of them. if possible, avoid the weekends, when it is too crowded.

The best transport to get there is bicycle. There is no need to talk about the beach it selt, the... More

Clean and nice beach, there is places to eat but you have to spend the day there as you have to go by car, as far i am concerned there is no bus station over there. Small waves.

A small beach just before Praia de Grumari you find Prainha(small beach). A small beach, popular by surfers, popular by locals and a good place to stop for enjoying beach life. Prainha is well known for it's good waves so it's not the right beach for kids.

Lots of locals here, mainly local surfers. Here waves are kind of rough so not suitable for kids. Besides there are no life guard close by so watch your kids closely!!... More

This has got to be the prettiest beach in the Rio area. We cycled there on a bike in Rio tour. It was the highlight of our holiday! There is s small beach bad, parking and changing facilities but no high rise buildings or hotels! It's a gem!

Prainha means "Little Beach" in Portuguese. It is a drive from Rio de Janeiro, but it is worth the trip. A much smaller beach than Copacabana, Ipanema or Barra da Tijuca, but very beautiful and usually less crowded. Lots of locals here, especially local surfers. Prainha is known for it's good waves, and the local surfers have kind of adopted... More
