This place is far from crowdy central places and mostly locals enjoy it, it is possible to take uber or city taxi to get there. it takes around 1 hour and 15 min to get to this hidden gem. if you get a taxi, ask the driver to wait for you because you might have chance to get taxi back to the city.
this beach is quite clean, nice, calm, and fantastic.
it is not a must see but it would be nice to make a plan for it in case you are having extra time in Rio

It is the east end of Grumari Beach. Regulated by an assossiation, though it has no need for that since the municipality just officialized it. As many other nude beaches, or should say almost all the nude beaches, the setting is great and the goers are mainly people that you might think they shouldn't be in that place. It is very far from Rio, still way further out from Barra da Tijuca. I take 1h30min by car from Copacabana. It is worth it. Really beautiful over there. The beach is tiny and if the tide is high the sand can be reduced to almost nothing. The gay men prefer to stay in the end and straight men and couples stay in the first half. Summer time you have to go very early in the morning or after 4:30pm or you will spend another our to reach it from Prainha in a bump to bump traffic totally still and no places to park. there are some "watchers" that charge you R$2... or much more if they feel like. They are not official and can be dangerous if you don't give the money ( but should never pay much more than the regular fee of R$2,00). I would say best time to go is from April to September. there are basically just one seller for drinks (beer, water, sodas). You will find a restaurant just next to it, very relaxed, on the sand.

The beach and the nature around the beach is wonderfull. It´s not a crowd beach even on the weekend. So you won´t have the noisy as Ipanema beach.
You can find beach service and buy drinks and sandwiches.
The nudism is obligatory but it´s a nice experience.

It's impossible to get there without a car. But it's a beautiful beach with great scenery. During summer days it's delicious to stay in the water (but in Rio the water is always very cold, even during summer.) Whoever likes nude beaches will enjoy the place.

This is a great beach to visit! It's a very beautiful hour drive from Copacabana depending on traffic with great surfing beaches along the way. Very nice to drive a little ways out of Rio de Janeiro then to arrive into all the surrounding nature! It's well worth the drive. The Abrico Beach has a lot to offer, with a relaxing bar & restaurant just on the sand with all the facilities like beach chairs umbrellas and fairly good service with a reasonable price. They will also serve you anywhere on the beach if that's where you decide to sit. Also if you are a real naturalist and you have some confidence there is an official nudist beach behind the giant rocks to the north side. Excellent place to visit if you can get there!!!

Take a Uber from Ipanema and you pay for a almost 1 hour drive 70 reales. Good prize. Taxi is much more expensive and not thrustworthy. Arriving at abrico beach you walk down left to go to the nude beach and right to the family beach. You can walk to the right for a mile. Great!
The place is clean and not overcrowded like ipanema. And there are just a few people bothering you because of selling whatever.
Great escape!

In between the bigger beaches you find this little gem. It's safe, there were many families there. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Since 2012 I have been going to the beach. Whenever I can, I go. A corner, a little piece of paradise, a peculiar "island", so to speak, isolated in Rio de Janeiro, mixing Sky, Mountains, Sand, Sun and Sea and which went very well as a naturist beach. I'm going to tell those who don't know it and are about to go see it, what it's like and how to go, as well as giving some recommendations. During the week, nudity is not mandatory, you will see people with clothes, in bathing suits and naked, however on weekends and public holidays (carnival, for example), the Associação Naturista Abricó (ANA) calls for mandatory undressing completely at the entrance to the beach. There are stalls that rent chairs and umbrellas, as well as selling drinks and there is a restaurant that, right outside the beach (in the Grumari-non-naturist part), can even serve guys on the beach with radios. Very rare street vendors and practically zero risk of robbery on the sand, however this does not mean that on the asphalt track security is 100%. There are 2 to 3 security guards wearing a green cap from the Association always patrolling Abricó beach only when it is there on the weekend, so it is recommended to go on the weekend, but if you can only go on a weekday, that's fine!

The sand strip will depend on the tide, so you have to keep an eye on the weather, because even on a sunny day, with high temperatures, if there is a surf or high tide, there will only be rocks and about 10% of sand at the beginning, this It is observed a lot between April and October and also after extratropical storms and cyclones. There is no shade on the beach, the winds are mostly from the south, especially in winter and strong, but this depends on the day, the wind is opposite and when the tide is low you can take a nice swim. Days subject to late afternoon rain showers or thunderstorms are not recommended due to the risk of slipping on the road, lightning and windstorms (see the weather forecast first). After the sand area at the beginning, there is the rocky area and a smaller area of sand at the end of the beach and it is more dangerous and I do not recommend family members or anyone who has no experience or does not want to go to those parts, especially because it is a side of the beach with a more specific audience, singles, LGBTQIAP+ and other audiences, as the beach is democratic, but there must be respect on the sand and obscene acts, theft and physical and moral violence will be punished and reprimanded by the Association, as the general public is very welcoming and respectful for the most part. Note: After the last strip of sand described, there are other larger rocks and it is not recommended to go in this region, as it is more prone to accidents and falls.

To get there, the means of transport are: By car (arrive early to find a space), especially in the summer and on weekends and holidays, as the Municipal Guard controls entry to the roundabout access in the Recreio part and may close when there are no more vacancies. It can be by Uber, motorcycle taxi, Moto Uber or Taxi (these can come in to drop off passengers, even with the gate closed), the ride costs between 15 and 20 reais departing from Recreio Shopping on Av. das Américas or you can walk between 4 .5 km walk for 45 to 55 minutes, depending on the pace. To pay for a taxi or Uber when you get there, you can't do PIX, pay the fare in cash, the cell phone signal doesn't work and it's bad with all 4 operators and there's no Wi-Fi. I've had problems with that. On the way back, there is a taxi and Moto Uber from there, but they charge a lot, around 50.00 to Recreio Shopping taxi and 15.00 Moto Taxi, and you can't call Uber or taxi or Moto Uber or Moto Taxi due to the signal. cell phone. Page if you can in cash most of the things you will consume there, things are a bit expensive and always take extra money, better safe than sorry (Values based on 2024). Here's a tip to tell an acquaintance, friend or relative that you will be there in that region/beach, so that in case of emergency, they know where you are, as your cell phone will be out of communication. There are no sidewalks, sidewalks or cycle paths, so be careful when walking there and back, as there are no lampposts and this applies to cars, to drive carefully, as it is a mountain road and there are ups, downs and blind spot turns and at night is dangerous. It is recommended to return at sunset, as the light helps a lot on the way back.

The Association leaves when it is getting dark, it soon gets dark and there is no lighting in the place or in the surrounding area or on the road (the place is a Grumari ecological reserve). Whoever has a car in the parking lot has a car keeper, but there is no set time for him to stay there until the end of the day. Be careful when offering someone a ride and always keep an eye on your belongings, because it doesn't cost anything, right? Don't take selfies exposing others around you! On Association day, they recommend selfies and discreet photos, without exposing other bathers. Use this day during the week too. Take any photo you want, as long as it is discreet and does not expose anyone. On the way there or back, take advantage and stop to take photos of the landscape from the road! Keep it as a souvenir! I'm sure you'll like it and want to come back!! Good beach!!

I went on a Sunday and despite it being a nudist beach, some (many) people enter dressed, as there is not always supervision. This greatly disrupts the experience and also makes people who respect the rules uncomfortable, completely distorting the naturist proposal. Furthermore, some men (these naked) near the rocks looking and staring at women, etc. Disgust. I didn't have a good experience because of these harassers. It may have been a one-off, ok, but still: I recommend that, if you go, women stay more in the middle of the beach and not in the corners, to reduce the risk of being harassed.
