A great class for the everyday cook as well as beginners. We made Caipirinhas, two appetisers and a main meal (fish). In our small group we took it in turns to prepare the ingredients, or to cook them, whilst talking about Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian culture and other topics. Simone's knowledge of everything Brazilian was outstanding. She was very informative... More

Simone is a very entertaining, funny lady whom is a real pleasure to talk to. The couple of hours I spent in her cooking class were filled with laughter, nice talk (to some nice fellow learners from all over the world), brief exchange of life experiences, tongue satisfaction derived from good wine and yummy food. Altogether it was a relaxing... More

Hands down, Cook in Rio was one of my favorite experiences of our trip!!! I recommend you take a class either the first or second day you’re in Rio. I enjoyed the small class sizes which allowed us to interact with and learn about our classmates and instructor. Simone was an entertaining and interactive teacher—no dull moments with her! She... We joined an afternoon cooking class during our stay in RIo and it was such a great experience. Simone is an excellent and engaging host, peppering the class with insights into Brazilian life and culture as well as cooking tips for everyone. The food we cooked on the day was absolutely delicious (we were there for the fish Moqueca) and... More

Everywhere we go I search out this kind of local, hands-on cooking class. We learn so much about the culture and the people through their food! This one will be one of our most memorable. Simone is so animated and passionate that's it's impossible not to love whatever she concocts. Really a fun evening; one of our favorite memories from... More

My colleague recommend this cooking class and I'm glad she did! My partner and I booked for a rainy day in Rio (book well in advance as classes book quickly) and we're happy we did. Simon was a great instructor.. she offered some history lessons around Brazil that connect the country and it's cuisine, guided us through the making of... More

Chef Simone is a great instructor sharing not only how to prepare the Seafood Moqueca but also invaluable cooking tips. Having studied as a chef in the US, she is quite knowledgeable with a true passion for cooking and it shows in how she teaches. I would have preferred more hands-on experience but there wouldn't have been enough time to... More

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
