This beautiful neo-gothic church was buiklt beteewn 1884 and 1969 (the tower). It is similar to others in North France. In the mausoleum are the mortal remains of Emperor D. Pedro II and D. Teresa Cristina, Princess Isabel and Count D'Eu

We made a quick visit to the cathedral (on our way to the brewery, ha ha). It is beautiful inside, very simple, with wonderful stained glass windows. The best view is from a distance, looking down the canal.

I must say, this is one of my favorite cathedrals... Simple yet impressive, the stained glass windows are beautiful and it's facade is also lovely, even at night it's well lit and worth walking by... Don't miss it!

Visited on a Sunday in June. Not too crowded. Lots of history in Petropolis and the cathedral is one of the buildings that should be seen.
