About
Sesc Quitandinha has become a cultural center, the most complete in the entire Serrana region of Rio. From now on, the space ceases to be a Sesc Unit and assumes its essentially cultural vocation, dedicating its programming exclusively to art in all its forms. languages and forms of expression.

Built during the Second World War to make it the largest casino in South America by the Italian architect Fossatti, it has currently been restored (casinos in Brazil are illegal) and has become a Conference Center and an exhibition center, as well as luxury apartments . Externally it is in Franco-Norman style with a pond on the front, while inside the Art Deco style prevails. Worth seeing are the two theatres, the large swimming pool and the restaurant hall with still antique furnishings, including bottles of liquor and the local Bohemia beer

This was the most surprising tour in Petrópolis. It features a permanent exhibition, as well as temporary art exhibitions.

I recommend taking the guided tour, which makes the visit even more interesting. It is administered by SESC and entry is free.

The Palace is very beautiful externally and in the areas administered by Sesc. However, I do not recommend hosting if the price is not popular. The hallways are old and covered in carpet. The garage is very damp with infiltrations and mold. For those who are allergic, you should stay away.
The apartment I stayed in was beautiful and complete. But the price was very high for what it offered. 633.00 per day with taxes and without breakfast. The hostess was kind and left some coffee and tea bags and 3 chocolates for our arrival. But it's not worth what we paid.
The bistro and cafe are beautiful and reasonably priced.

We walked through this venue while touring Petropolis. Fortunately, we had a guide who could explain things for us. It's an impressive venue that currently houses some history exhibits. It was orginally decorated by Dorothy Draper so has some resemblances to The Greenbrier in West Virginia. The grounds are also very nice.

This is worth a stop if your in the area.

The hotel was inaugurated as a Hotel Casino, but it only operated as a casino for 2 years, since in 1946 gambling was prohibited in Brazil. The government at the time was concerned that they could not monitor cash flows in such places. It's just for the photo and the story

I visited the palace and was enchanted, there was a program for children, I visited the theater, the kitchen, different rooms, it was beautiful and worth the trip. They could show films and photos from the palace's glorious era, it would bring them together and take us back to the past. The annoying thing is the flannels when parking the car, they are inconvenient.

Unmissable. The guided tour is a Brazilian history lesson!! We stayed for about 2 and a half hours. The guide who accompanied us, unfortunately I forgot her name, was excited by our interest and had a lot of information and stories to tell. The halls are beautiful. We are happy that Sesc has embraced the place and keeps it intact. Unfortunately we weren't able to see a play in the pink room. After the visit, we had lunch at the bistro. A delight.

The palace is very well managed by Sesc.
Everything very clean and organized. Good for a family walk. There's diaper and drinkers. We saw the exhibition 'Two Brasis', very interesting.
We were lucky to see a storytelling that was being made at the venue. Great for families with children.
The palace is beautiful inside and out. On the lawn in front there is a beautiful Christmas decoration. It also has a handicraft fair.

Wonderful experience. The guided tour makes all the difference. Patrícia accompanied us and provided us with a very rich experience, with interesting details of the place, its stories and relevant facts. It stopped being just a “beautiful building” and became a unique experience. I highly recommend it! It is important to mention that the guided tour is free, as is access to the site.
