It is a part of the history of Brasil and a summer home for many Brazilian presidents incl the recent Lula da Silva. But unfortunately it is quite empty and the exposition charts give the history of the place. It is in a bad maintenance...More

Since 1903 Rio Negro Palace is the summer residence of Brazilian presidents. Although beautiful the place needs an urgent restoration. As a museum there are few things to see there.

We walked past and decide to have look. It’s all in Portuguese but very interesting even when you don’t speak the language. Beautiful and sadly run down, but gives a sense of the history of Petrópolis.

Petropolis has many lovely buildings. This palace is pretty from the outside but somewhat plain inside. Interesting that it is still used as a sum residence for the country's leaders.

Less than an hour from Rio is the "Imperial City" of Petropolis, the summer home of the Brazilian emperor and his family. The museum offers a peek back into history to see how the royal family lived.

It is a nice building from the Brazil colony, but there is nothing else to do, it is not a museum or anything, but is next to the Brazilian Expeditionary Force museum!

This is a cool place which is used by the presidents of Brazil when they visit Petropolis. Lula did - his grinning painting is there to proof it! The other presidents look much more serious. The portrait of each president who stayed there hangs here....More

Unlike some of the other museums in Petropolis, there aren´t English translations for most of this museum unfortunately. Even without then, it´s still a beautiful house to visit however!
