It is an incredible place, where you can see all kind of inhabitants of the sea. But you should do this tour with a local with a fast boat. The locals are doing some kind of ecological tourism and know everything very well. They have an eye for Try to avoid the big sailing ships. Instead of this ask for Betinho or Umberto, who is the kind of local who makes lagos Azul to an unforgettable experience.

we spent the morning scoping out the beaches .the big debate was lopez mendez or blue lagoon .lopez mendes involved a hike and it was too hot so wetook a speedboat to blue lagoonThis was morecorrectly green lagoon but still beautiful . its not secluded - there were about 50 other boats . snorkeling was ok
a few fish . i think buzios is better

Speachless. A MUST do tour. Some snorkeling and sun bathing. Some tours even include lunch. Nice boat and short ride so no need to worry of getting sea sick.

Beautiful little paradise, where the water is deep and crystal clear and there are many types of fish you can hand feed.

I'm not surprised the company itself isn't listed on Trip Advisor, as I can imagine it would be all terrible reviews - came across few on various other listings!
"The Ilha Grande Tour" was recommended to us by our hotel, so we thought it would be better than other similar tours advertised at half the price - we were extremely wrong!
Even though we booked it as an English tour - our tour guide completely ignored the fact that he had 3 english passengers on the bus, and throughout continued speaking portugese and spanish, every so often throwing an english sentence. We also thought that since it's called Ilha Grande tour, we would actually get to the island and have some time to walk around. Instead we got dropped off at one of the completely deserted beaches of the island and had 30mins to stay there - couldn't go inland as it was just bushes, and as it was a rather overcast day we didn't fancy staying 30mins in the water
The boat was completely overcrowded and whilst the band is trying to keep you entertained, we already were in not a great mood. Nobody on the boat speaks english, so when the photographers walked around asking if anyone wanted underwater photos, and we asked them if they spoke english they just run away, never to return. Our guide was nowhere to be found to help translating. If you want snorkelling masks, you will need to pay for those extra, and again when we had a problem with one of ours, we had to try and explain with sign language what was wrong, because there was no one who could help us with english.
The food was okay, though I wouldn't expect much from a boat. Drinks you need to pay extra for, but they are decently prized.
The only time our tour guide came up to us, was when we needed to settle the bill, and he was very annoyed that we didn't leave the full 10% service charge - what for?!
Considering the tour was 280 RS, which is very expansive in comparison to other tours, it was an absolute waste of money, and our worst tour experience in Brazil.

With clear water, great spot for snorkeling. We could see amazing fishes, reefs, see turtles... we asked for a boat taxi and stayed there for around an hour. Don't miss it!

For a boat trip we recommend doing a speedboat tour. We took Objetiva and found them friendly and professional. Their speedboat takes about 20 from Vila Do Abraao and departs at 10.30 for about 5 hours. The fast boat takes you to the other end of island starting with the Gruta do Acaia cave visit R $10 pp extra. Don't go if claustrophobic and it does NOT suit small children.I am 67 and loved the adventure of it but not my husband. It is challenging as cave roof is low and ladder is steep. We also visited Aracatiba for crystal clear water swim and Lagoa Azul where the small fish are abundant and coral is pretty. A person takes lunch order for Japariz so it's ready when you arrive. Recanto do Praia is well set up for crowds and fast good food and i loved my thick, fresh white fish. Saco do Ceu and Feiticeira after lunch. It's worth going back to Feiticeira and doing the walk up to the Waterfall. Our children, 11 and 7, loved it, especially the swim in the pool and standing under the Falls themselves.
There's a magnificent forest trail above the cottage at Saco do Ceu for a short shady walk. I loved this day and it's worth paying extra for the faster boat to see more. Departed at about 10.30 and returned about 5 hours later. They supply good snorkel gear. Can be windy, possibly cold when boat is speeding so bring some protection.

We went twice in a week, enjoyed a lot snorklling and swining in the area. It is not a real lagoon but really amazing colour, we saw crabs, different fish and made a hole day tour, took our own meal and enjoyed the day!

We saw crabs, fish and a squid in the hour we were there. Went with a speed boat driver who took a party of 10 for 100 reais each from 10.30 til 4.30 (it would have been cheaper for cash). Bottled water was included and we stopped at a beach side restaurant where we could buy lunch.
