Very clean beach, very nice, perfect : no boats nor jet-skis there. The only drawback is that you must carry all your stuff (beach chair, umbrella, etc.) via the trail, since it's the only way to get there.

We took one of the many boats offered to go from Abrao to the Lopes Mendes beach. Upon arrival, all the boats actually leave you at a beach called “pouso”. From there, count 20min walk to finally arrive at Lopes Mendes. It is totally worth...More

Maybe I was luckier with the weather than some visitors but for me in August it was perfect---sunny and dry but not too hot. The walk there from Pouso, where the boat drops you off, is not too strenuous but it is probably tricky in...More

I must say we were pretty disappointed with this beach being the "second most beautiful beach of Brazil". It was very average, nothing impressive. We found Arraial do Cabo way prettier. Anyway, we took a taxi boat, it cost us 30R per person, they take...More

A great 2 hr hike to this uncrowded beach that stretches on forever. Great for a swim and some sun - then an easy walk back to Pouso for a boat ride home.

We visited in the middle of August during a week long downpour. Everything was wet and soggy. The 2.5 hour hike through the jungle over the sloping clay paths was hair raising and physically challenging (and we are three quite fit young people). Arriving at...More

Worth the trek for 3 hours or take a boat. Wide beach which means you can walk out far! Make sure the sun is shining! Not many vendors or food so take your own! Not too many people either but a big wide beach where...More

hi Sean, I can't much help with your questions to be honest. We booked a transfer from Rio with Green Toad bus company, it included the boat crossing from Jacarei and was all pretty good. We didn't do any private tours on... More
