We did the trek to Lopes Mendes but this is the first beach you get to; we stayed for about an hour but continued to Lopes mendes as we were told it was one of the most beautiful on the island. Emmm this one is much more beautiful and sheltered; wouldve stayed here or Pouso beach longer.

A short boat ride from Abraao, this beach has clean water, places to eat and drink, and no crowds. Would recommend it if you just want to have a swim and chill for a few hours with a good book

I liked the hike better than the beach. The day before I went to Dois Rios and the sand was softer there and the view was a bit nicer. But still: it is a beach where you can lay down, work on your tan and chill out. If you don't like a long hike, go here instead of Dois Rios.

Was there in 12/14. Found Palams to be creepy. A very large number of locals reside in Palmas and it kind of has a certain...dare I say it...favela feel. I don't know, of all the places on the island I would avoid before Abraao, this would be it. It is not an "avoid at all costs" type of place by we found it to be fairly creepy. We had hiked in from Pouso so it took, maybe 30 minutes? If you stay on that side of the island, do your hiking towards the lighthouse and/or stick to Lopes Mendes. Mengues is as far as I would go

We stopped at this beach for a coconut and short stop on the way to lopes mendes beach. The beach is quiet and to counter other reviews - did have a more local vibe but in no way appeared 'creepy'. Not sure I would hike especially for this beach but it was a nice stop.

Palmas beach is one of the beaches around lha Grande. It's waters area very calm as is the beach, perfect if you want to lay and rest or play with friends.

If you like walking you can get to many diffent places at Ilha Grand walking through the woods. If you don't, you can take take a taxi boat.

There you'll find campings and some restaurants.

There is no electrical energy reaching the beach... They have their power engine to produce energy.
The water comes from natural sources in the island, wich means they are perfect to take a shower... no chemicals from water treatment.

Also you will have difficulties to find anyone who would accpet credit cards. All in cash.

It is a quieter beach on Ilha Grande, there are no markets, just a small grocery store and some restaurants/kiosks. I stayed at a campsite with affordable prices. The location is strategic for those who like hiking, as there is a trail to both Lopes Mendes and Abraão beaches. For those who want a more lively place, I recommend staying in Abraão. For those who want a quiet place, Praia de Palmas is a great choice!
