The first time I visited Porto de Galinhas was in 2020. I found a simple city, but one that cared about keeping everything in order and the beaches clean. The people were very welcoming. The landscapes were beautiful, which made me want to come back.
However, now in 2024, I was scared by the amount of trash on the beaches, especially in the natural pools in the center.
Waste is not just in the sand, but in the sea, food waste, plastic things, etc. It's very sad to see this, and I could see that it's not just tourists who cause this.
Furthermore, the “harassment” of tourists is frightening. You can't walk a meter on the beach without being approached by about 20 people. The same happens when you are sitting. There are a lot of people, all the time.
At night you think you won't have that, but there are tons of guys on the street who charge you in advance to park your car anywhere and want to drag you to specific places, they walk with you, an endless embarrassment. And if you say you don't want to or that you won't pay, you face threats and are afraid to leave your car there.
The city's streets are also abandoned, full of craters, rubbish, there is no sanitation, and the smell is often bad.
It's sad what's happening to this place that was so beautiful.

Harbour of chickens is no longer so attractive, the exploration to the tourist and screaming, and worse yet and the lack of quality offered in various items. The number of walkers only increases and it becomes more and more difficult to enjoy the natural pools I have been 2 times in chicken harbour in less than 1 year and will hardly return there. Despite being a beautiful beach I believe that there are other more attractive and less disputed options and also the fact that the city is becoming practically the big builders that end up eliminating much of the access to the beach and charging more and more expensive in the few options that still remain.

Sad to say, but Chicken Harbour is no longer worth it. The place is terribly expensive, dirty, poorly organized and of poor quality. You stop a car on the public street someone will approach you and force you to pay R$10 to R$60. Any restaurant you can't find a dish for 2 for less than R$200. Bad food, every place I tried was pure disappointment. Although I don't have anything. It is a great exploration to the tourist without offering anything.

The beaches are very beautiful, but it is impossible to appreciate the beauty of the beach and the city due to the excess of street vendors and vendors offering all types of services. You can't walk around the city or on the beach for more than 40 seconds without someone approaching you offering a ride, painting on a tile, sitting in a certain stall, among others. There was a salesman who followed me from the time I was in the city until I arrived at the beach and when I said that I was just going to walk and that I wasn't going to sit in any tent, he continued to discreetly follow me to try to convince me again when I arrived at the beach. Everyone needs to work, but the invasive and excessive approach of street vendors really disrupts the tour. Another point is the food, which, with the exception of expensive and renowned restaurants, is quite poor. Choose reputable restaurants, they are usually full and have a waiting list. Don't go into restaurants with discount signs that are too attractive.

It was the 2nd time we went and the summary is: bad!
1. They promised 6.00m depth in the diving - it wasn't 2.00m;
2. They said that the cost of the diving was R$ 240,00 the couple - they charged 10% of the card machine;
3. They promised pictures of the diving, took it and did not deliver;
4. They did not deliver the photos because they wanted to charge minimum consumption on the table and quarter-sun which, besides not being combined, is prohibited;
5. Clandestine parking and no ticket to pick up the car, much less receipt;
6. All kinds of walkers approaching insistently.
Do not recommend! It is sad to see the lack of capacity of these people. WE'RE NOT COMING BACK.

We were unlucky with high tides all week, so we weren't able to make an accurate assessment of the beach's beauty. However, what bothered us a lot was the structure on the beach: all the vendors offered umbrellas and chairs, which needed to be paid for if there was no food consumed at the tent. The price of the food where we stayed was extremely expensive for the quality offered; Furthermore, the “rental” of umbrellas and chairs was also very expensive compared to other beaches. At Cupe beach, for example, we paid just 10 reais and were able to enjoy excellent infrastructure, no minimum consumption and impeccable service. Another point is the absurd number of street vendors who approach you at all times.

I went there to de-stress and came back even more, the salespeople are an unbearable pain in the ass. Wherever you park your car there will be someone asking for 10 reais, if you park 100x, you will have to pay 100x.
And a lot of people exploiting tourists, it seems like they want all the money you take.
I wanted peace, because I already work in hotels, but wherever you go, someone will always appear on a motorbike or on foot welcoming you, but with a much greater interest in taking your money. (in selling something)
Porto de Galinhas I won't be going back.
If you want rest and peace, escape Porto de Galinhas.
Unless you go after 00:00, and everything is very expensive, but very expensive indeed.

The beach itself is beautiful and worth it. Flat and warm waters, landscapes and beautiful natural pools, a paradise.
The whole problem is in the orla/Villa. Much movement, sound boxes, incessant approaches of walkers and staff wanting to offer the tents. It's extremely uncomfortable, we were walking along the beach and couldn't talk for a moment without being interrupted by someone. Even after the negatives followed us along the beach insisting, very inconvenient!
We are approached in the sand saying that the “rental” of chairs and sunshine is free as long as you consume a snack. The snacks are on average 130-150 reais, which is absurd.
We took our thermal bag and bought beer in a local market at iFood, and we sat in the canga.
The Villa has good restaurants, but the values are pretty salty. The cheap ones aren't worth it.
The Villa has parts that smell like sewage. Some very central streets without pedestrian. Despite the movement, the Villa is safe.
It is sad that such a beautiful place has fewer and fewer tourists because of the insane harassment of the locals wanting to blackmail at any cost and the lack of infrastructure.

We have already visited many destinations, and this was undoubtedly the most disappointing in terms of infrastructure. The city lacks adequate basic sanitation, the streets are crowded, with garbage accumulated and even the gallery of the promenade showed sewage leakage. Given the fame of the destination and the large circulation of tourists, it is regrettable that the local administration does not make any more efforts to improve these essential aspects.

Family trip May 2024, although the tide doesn't contribute much, the beach has clear waters and the pools are beautiful, check the tide before going... the services provided in the stalls are OK, the insistence of some vendors sometimes gets in the way, but it's part of it. The village has many opportunities to improve infrastructure and support local residents as well. Several restaurant options, some very good and others not so much, most of them with live music and few for those traveling with small children, who need more places with "toys", for example.

Provavelmente, no início do verao esteja normalizado.
