Curitiba has many attractions such as parks, restaurants, museums, concerts. The city is very cared for, with good traffic of vehicles and public transportation.
Just a frustration that was the visit to the Japanese Garden, which is inside the PUC campus. The garden, in addition to tiny, is not in good conservation conditions and to visit it you have to pay for parking.

For motorcycling lovers like us, another postcard for motorcycling!
First section with delicious asphalt, second section with rustic paving requiring a little more attention depending on the weather. Quiet curves.

This road is a awesome trip to do by car. The nature and the views are fantastic. There are several places to stop during the trip so you can take pictures and have some snacks.

Its an old road in the mountains, with some awesome views. Ciclists will like to go down the mountain by this road. I recommend in thw way back, to get the train at the city of Morretes

I was supposed to take the train to see this area but they cancelled it. This ended up being a good thing. My guide drove me down the road to Morettes using the old road through the forrest. I got out of the car and walked a bit as it was beautiful and peaceful. I never would have seen this if I had taken the train.

This is worthy a visit. A colonial roadway that is very well known between local people that use it during the weekend for picnics and play. It connects the State capital, Curitiba, with small city in the coastline. The crooked way, some areas still showing original stone pavement, has a delightful view of The Atlantic Forrest. Hydrangeas are planted alongside the road and if you open your windows you will hear birds singing everywhere. You can also buy traditional sweets along the way or stop for pictures in special viewing areas. The gate at the beginning of the way is beautiful and you can stop nearby for very nice photos. I would suggest to do this trip only if the weather is dry.

The Gracious Road is beautiful, with a "pure rainforest", little rivers coming down the mountains, waterfalls, so many kinds of beautiful flowers and of course, hundreds of very sharp curves. I know the Estrada da Graciosa very well. A couple of times my brother and I rode a bike there. The view is fantastic. For those who love nature, it's the place to be.

Here you will smell the Rain Forest. This ancient road cuts the mountains while you count butterflies. You can also go by train.

From Curitiba you can go to the city of Morretes by the Estrada da Graciosa (Graciosa Road). It is a ancient road that crosses the mountains near the coast inside the astounding rain forest or "Mata Atlântica". The best way is by car, but you can see more adventurous people riding bikes... There are many different stops with wonderful sightsees. The road runs also besides the Nhundiaquara River, in some steps it is possible to swim, but the water is cold. It´s also possible to try “bóia cross”, or to roll down the river in large rubber buoys. Near to the arrival of the bóia cross, there is a very small town, Porto de Cima, with a very old church (somebody told me it was built by the Portugueses!). There is a restaurant there (Dona Ciroba) and a place with ginger ice creams (I loved!). At the end of the road you can enjoy the little town of Morretes with their typical restaurants, which main dish is "Barreado", cooked beef with manioc flavour (tasty!). If you drink alcohol, try the typical "cachaça" from the region, with banana flavor and even other local fruits mixtures.

This road is extremely pretty. As it connects Curitiba to Morretes, a very nice option is to go to Morretes with the Serra Verde train and go back using the Graciosa. You will never forget the views (and Serra Verde is arguably the best train ride in Brazil!).
Go from Curitiba by train to Morretes, eat barreado there (one of brazilian lesser-known dishes, very classic in Morretes) and go back to Curitiba by the Graciosa Road. It's worth it!
