Stayed in Cabo Branco, a great neighborhood with everything a tourist needs, but I didn't appreciate the beach with strong waves. I walked along the long boardwalk to Tambaú, then I dived and swam, and even met some friendly people from Goiás. Beach for children aged 8 to 80.

Beautiful beach with several kiosk options, beach service and bathrooms (nothing out of the ordinary for a kiosk bathroom) and at a much better cost than many northeastern capitals. Good for taking children because the sea is not very dangerous. Boardwalk with places to ride bikes and wonderful coconut water.

Beautiful beach. I suggest looking for your John to rent a table with chairs. He and Alessandro, were very friendly, helpful and treated us very well. I took a wonderful juice in their tent. I recommend, maracujá with lemon, delicious and super refreshing. We stayed short, because the beach for me is very busy. I prefer quieter places. But it's worth a visit.

A nice beach, several kiosks with cold drinks and a wide variety of food. These kiosks have bathrooms.
There is also a range of close trade.
The water is quiet and tasty, worth seeing.

Good beach with several kiosk options. Very good food, well served and reasonably priced. Calm sea and coastline with cycle path. Excellent for walking as it has an extensive promenade.

Tambau and adjacent beaches are beautiful, unfortunately, the city does not care about the cleanliness of the beaches and dumps raw sewage directly on the sand. I had the most horrific experience this January right after new years day. After a great number or tourists left, city officials opened the pipes and released raw sewage that had been stored for about 20 days. The whole waterfront smelled horrible. Pitiful.
Oh, and the sidewalks are all broken or car are parked on them, making it impossible for a disabled person to move around.

The best urban beach in João Pessoa. You will find a pleasant place to stay all day long. Maybe even at night you will enjoy it, since it is safe and the water is warm

The beach is nice in general. Clean and with a lot of umbrellas and people selling things, but they do not disturb you so much...
The beach itself nothing special but the promenade near the beach is nice and safe, at night you have local music, we enjoyed it!

I love beaches! All kinds of beaches: small, quiet, secluded beaches; huge, crowded beaches; and what I call city-style beaches, City-style beaches are ones where the local people come to relax, socialize, people-watch, exercise, compete in sports, etc. etc. etc. Tambau beach is a great city-style beach. I'm going to be living just one short block away from the center of this beach for the next months, and I intend on making it a big part of my life while I'm here. For sunbathing and appreciating Brazilian beach culture, I recommend Sundays when you can enjoy all of the services the beach community has to offer. I was surprised to learn that the soup vendors (Yes. Soup is served on the beach.) served on the beach!) are very popular here in Northeast Brazil. I loved the seafood chowder. The vendor I bought mine from had added some curry powder and the flavor was great. The best thing about Brazilian beaches is that you don't have to bring anything with you. Umbrellas, beach chairs, all manner of alcoholic drinks, fresh squeezed fruit juices (Oh, the fruit!!!), hot and cold snacks - everything you might want (including sun screen, sun glasses, beach cover-ups) delivered to your spot on the beach by friendly (Never pushy.) vendors. I am so fortunate to live so close by. I'm gong to spend a lot of time here!

Written December 10, 2020
