This new Visitor Center run by the National Parks Service is a small gem in a unsuspecting place. Dedicated to the Lake Superior end of the Great Lakes system, this place celebrates the history, the grandeur, the ecosystem and the beauty of the largest lake. Exhibits take visitors from the early history through today and the growth of slar power,... More

We took a day trip from Manitowish Waters during a rainy day and glad we took the trip. This center is very well done - staff is more than eager to answer questions . It has a nice gift shop and 5 story observatory that offers some nice views of Superior. We spent about an hour and 1/2 there very... More

We stopped at this large and modern National Park visitor center on our drive south in Wisconsin and on the way from the Apostle Islands towards MN. This Visitor Center has a large store, many display areas and a large outdoor viewing deck. There were many rangers and lots of options for stamping your National Park Passport for the Great... We thought they did a great job educating us on the history of this area. Lots to see inside and out, my wife loved the themed gardens and I was surprised by the amount of exhibits, also had a nice gift shop and this is all free.

We stopped in to get some information and to look around. Good thing that we did! Staff was friendly and informed us of a new detour route (since heavy rains had washed out some roads and bridges in the area) to help us get to Michigan. They even gave us a map with the route marked. Thumbs up to them!
