The facility is located just west of Ashland. It's free to attend and full of teaching venues. A large theater. It's all well suited for bazaars.

Great history of the local culture and the great lakes in general. So many free interactive exhibits and walking trails with complimentary snow shoe rental. Gift shop has a lot of awesome souvenirs and great prices.

This visitor center is a neat stop to introduce yourself to the Great Lakes area. They have a small gift shop and museum to help orient you with the area. We stopped by more to check out the observation tower area. The views weren't spectacular...More

This is a great find; it’s much more than an information centre. Welcoming staff. Plenty of displays. Large viewing area upstairs. The visitor centre is definitely worth a stop while travelling in the area

Great experience at this incredible visitor center. Great information and a lovely nature walk in the marsh area. We enjoyed the films to learn about this area.

This is definitely a must see attraction when visiting the Ashland area. You will need to set aside at least two hours to see everything this place has to offer.

This is a free museum but don't be misled....You will want to make a donation after you spend time here. Leave plenty of time to be educated on so many phases of Great Lakes history, flora & fauna, shipwrecks, etc. The displays are so well...More

I didn't see any facilities for dogs. I was surprised at how dog-unfriendly the entire UP was.
