There are some cannons 16th century welll preserved.
A nice river view on top of the fort wall is the best in the place.

This is a very small 17th century fort, but you can get some nice views back to the cathedral and up the coast to the market area of Belem. Worth a visit - it is in the old city, adjacent to the cathedral and the House of Eleven Windows.
We were charged 4 Reals each to enter the fort, including the small museum.

We spent about 1/2 hour here learning about the early Portuguese history of the area. I've been to a lot of forts all over the world, but I love history so I was very interested.

Is a very small fort, is cheap to visit and is a very clean one! So it worth the visit! There is a tiny museum inside! But again very neat!

One can walk around the fort and sit on canons and take photos. In one of the buildings is a small museum that has displays of the history of the area. But, the signs next to the displays are only in Portuguese. Both were free. There were many cobblestones, so good footwear is suggested.

If you are interested in history it is worth leaving a couple of hours for the fort, the church and the museum (often closed) all around the same square across the Ver o peso market.

I really like this place. Good to catch a wind and enjoy the bay during the day. This place needs maintenance to return to its initial features, and during the night the lighting is bad. Very nice and very careful! It yields beautiful photos and a position to pick up photos from the Ver-o-peso market. It is very worthwhile to visit the manger's fort at sunset time and drink coconut water enjoying the wonderful view!

This was a small but fairly well preserved fort. There was not a lot to see apart from some canons. The best things were the view of the market and also the views across to the islands. My lasting memory is of the number of black vultures circling above.

A small but unremarkable fort, Climbing the walls gave us a good view of the markets and daily life of the city
